How Long Does It Take To Beat Concrete Genie?

Concrete Genie recently release and, while it may not rival the size of PlayStation 4 behemoths like God of War, the title has a lot to offer. The subject of frequent showcases from Sony since its unveiling at the 2017 Paris Game Week, it's clear that the company has a lot of faith in Concrete Genie. Faced with such a unique concept, you may be wondering how much time you'll get to spend with the game and whether the title has earned the hype and $30 price tag.

Developer Pixelopus has divided Concrete Genie into six chapters. Though the mileage will vary based on skill level, each chapter should take about 30 to 45 minutes to complete, with a basic playthrough clocking in at around the five hour mark. If you get stuck on one or more of the puzzles, your playtime could easily increase to seven hours. A complete run, which entails exploring the full environment and tracking down all the collectibles, would still likely take less than 10 hours.

While 5-10 hours may not seem like a lot of time, Concrete Genie embodies the quality over quantity concept. Though some developers choose to artificially lengthen their games with busy-work and irrelevant quests, Concrete Genie has forgone the fluff, offering a compelling experience from start to finish. Those looking for a bit more longevity and who have the necessary equipment can also take advantage of the title's two VR modes: VR Experience and VR Free Paint.

Heather Wald of GamesRadar+ awarded the game a 4.5/5. "Overall, Concrete Genie took me about 6-7 hours to complete, but it felt like the right amount of time to prevent it from feeling too repetitive or overly long. In all honesty, I enjoyed myself so much that I didn't even notice how much time was passing me by, and that's the best compliment I could ever give it," wrote Wald. "It takes you on a heartfelt journey bursting with so much creativity, imagination, and warmth, and it's one I won't soon forget."

Concrete Genie is available now for PlayStation 4.
