Where To Upgrade Your Weapons In Fortnite: Chapter 2

Fortnite: Chapter 2 has arrived, bringing a host of new features, cosmetics, and changes with it. One of the more interesting additions is the ability to upgrade your weapons on the fly, allowing you to enhance their rarity during matches. The quality of your weapons can often spell the difference between defeat and scoring a Victory Royale, making this a particularly useful option for those looking to get the edge on their competitors. Here's what you need to know about the new upgrade system.

To enhance your weapons, you'll need to find one of the new upgrade benches scattered around the map. These benches resemble circular tables ringed by tools and crowned with a light that glows brighter as you approach. Players have reported spotting them in a variety of areas, including Dirty Docks, Pleasant Park, Retail Row, Frenzy Farm, Lazy Lake, and Misty Meadows. Simply interact with the bench to see the available upgrade and the material cost for your equipped weapon.

Here's a full breakdown of the materials required to reach each rarity tier:

  • Uncommon (Green) – 50 Wood, 50 Stone, 50 Metal
  • Rare (Blue) – 150 Wood, 150 Stone, 150 Metal
  • Epic (Purple) – 250 Wood, 250 Stone, 250 Metal
  • Legendary (Gold) – 350 Wood, 350 Stone, 350 Metal

It's important to note that upgrade benches can only be used to enhance the quality of your weapons, meaning you can't boost items like potions, bandages, and medical kits. You also can't enhance the Bandage Bazooka, the new cannon that allows you to shoot your teammates back to full health.

After completing the upgrade, your weapon will be replaced in your inventory by the enhanced version. If you have the required materials on hand, completing an upgrade takes a matter of seconds. Though fast, this is more than enough time for an opponent to snipe you, so make sure to keep an eye on your surroundings. Upgrade benches will likely become popular destinations, especially in the early days of Fortnite: Chapter Two.
