Small Details You Missed In The Fortnite Chapter 2 Map

It's been mere hours since Fortnite: Chapter 2 dropped with its brand new map, but players are already discovering fun new areas, secrets, and even some callbacks to the Fortnite map of old. If you like discovering things in Fortnite, this is going to be like Christmas morning for you, so right now, we're going to do our best Santa Claus impression and bring you some gifts.

We've gathered some of the more interesting finds in Fortnite: Chapter 2's new map, so when you're ready to dive in and see what the update to Epic's battle royale shooter has to offer, plot a course for one of these new destinations.

The Truckasaurus is back... sort of

Did we travel through space or time, dragging all of our junk with us along the way? If so, it appears that junk included the Truckasaurus from the original Fortnite map.

The Truckasaurus made the journey with us to this fresh new Fortnite: Chapter 2 island, but unfortunately, it didn't quite stick the landing. You can find the Truckasaurus just north of Dirty Docks, in the sea, and that means it's getting all rusty as we speak. Poor Truckasaurus.

A few other friends had a rough trip

Ah, the Durrr Burger and the Tomatohead. We spent many, many months visiting these Fortnite icons occasionally to level up our Battle Passes. They, too, have made the trip from the old Fortnite map to the new one, but they've definitely seen better days. In case you're curious, you can find the two just east of Holly Hedges.

Will these objects play a part in the new version of Fortnite, or will the game move on to newer imagery? We'll likely find out in the weeks ahead as more of Fortnite: Chapter 2 Season 1 reveals itself.

Visit the healing waters of Slurpy Swamp

The various "Slurps" inside Fortnite are well known for their healing properties, but it seems the game's new map has taken that concept to the extreme. There's now an entire area called Slurpy Swamp with waters that have been polluted by Slurp juice, and a factory in that area with an entire Slurp tub inside of it.

You just have to imagine that, at some point in the future, this factory is going to explode and send Slurp juice pulsing through the new island's various streams and rivers. A Fortnite map with healing potion flowing all over like water? We will definitely be here for that.

A nod to PUBG

Players exploring Fortnite: Chapter 2's new map appear to have discovered a bridge that looks very, very familiar. It connects the Salty Springs and Pleasant Park areas, and definitely looks like a tribute to a certain bridge in a certain other game.

Can you recognize it? How about now?

We're not sure how close a nod this is to the bridge found in PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds – the game that made battle royale shooters popular  but it seems that a lot of players believe this is meant to pay homage to that title's Erangel map. PUBG Corp. and Epic Games are no longer tied up in a legal dispute, so perhaps this is Epic's way of burying the hatchet. And if so, isn't that great?

The bear statue has a new home

Okay, some of this new map honestly confuses us. Like, we can understand how objects and players might have been thrown through space or time or whatever, and how everything might've ended up strewn across this new area. What we can't understand is how the bear statue from the old map not only stayed intact, but ended up on display indoors.

In case you don't remember this statue, it was previously found southeast of Retail Row, very much outdoors. Somehow, someway, it got transported to the new map found in Fortnite: Chapter 2, and it wound up inside a large home southeast of Misty Meadows.

It kind of makes you wonder: was space travel or time travel involved at all, or are we now in some parallel dimension, where the bear statue has always been indoors? And would that also apply to the Truckasaurus and the Durrr Burger? What if everything from the old map is here in some way, just in a different place or condition than we saw it previously? We shouldn't be thinking this much about Fortnite, but we are.

And you can bet we'll be keeping our eyes peeled for more discoveries as players happen upon them in Fortnite: Chapter 2, so stay tuned.
