One Punch Man Gets A February 2020 Release Date

Bandai Namco has shared the release date for One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows, its upcoming fighting game based on the popular manga series.

The publisher unveiled the news alongside a new action-packed trailer. In addition to showing off elements of the story, the trailer reveals gameplay for four new characters: Metal Knight, Stinger, Melzargard, and Dream Version Saitama. You also get a look at King, who will occasionally appear as an event, freezing everyone in place on sight for varying periods of time.

Since Bandai Namco announced the adaptation back in June, fans have questioned how overpowered protagonist Saitama would fit into a balanced fighting game, let alone one with a multiplayer element, while remaining true to the source material. It seems the developer plans to solve this puzzle in multiple ways. One approach involves the game's three-fighter structure. While you'll have the option to choose Saitama a.k.a One Punch Man, he might turn up late to the battle, if he puts in an appearance at all.

The new trailer revealed the second solution: Dream Version Saitama. For those unfamiliar with the lore, Dream Version Saitama is a powered-down version of the protagonist who fights in his pajamas. He lacks normal Saitama's one-hit kill ability, meaning he can join a fighting team without throwing the balance out of whack.

As for the other reveals, Metal Knight a.k.a. Dr. Bofoi is the S-Class Rank 6 hero of the Hero Association. He couples robots and firepower with a genius intellect. A high ranking A-Class hero, Stinger is an expert spearman with immense strength, speed, reflexes, and endurance. Finally, Melzargard is an alien general of the Dark Matter Thieves known for regeneration, shapeshifting, heightened strength, and heightened speed.

One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows releases for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on February 28, 2020.
