Rumor: December's Free PlayStation Plus Game May Have Leaked

Thinking of buying a game or two this holiday season? Be sure to check what PlayStation is giving away for free before making your purchase. A post on Reddit suggests PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to get their hands on God of War next month.

Today, Reddit user BubaManUK went to buy God of War but was met with a pop-up saying the game was free with PlayStation Plus and that they could purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition for the measly price of $29.99. That's a pretty good deal, one to keep in mind if you intend to purchase a PlayStation 4 next month.

Traditionally, PlayStation Plus offers two games to its subscribers each month. November's games, which you can still download for free, are the supernatural ninja thriller Nioh and the terrifying survival game Outlast 2. We won't know for sure if God of War is one of December's freebies until Nov 27, which isn't too long to wait. Until then, we can only scrutinize this alleged leak and its accompanying red flags.

First of all, God of War's original price is listed as $99.99, which is most definitely not the game's current price on the PlayStation Store. You can pick up God of War for just $19.99, a far cry from the $99.99 listed on the Reddit post. Commenters believe this is an error, one that has appeared before. One poster even claimed they received the same pop-up when purchasing Grand Theft Auto 5 today. As another response pointed out, Sony added God of War to their PlayStation Now subscription service in October. As it's available until January 2, 2020, it would be odd for Sony to include it in the December PlayStation Plus roster.

Is this God of War pop-up just a glitch or an actual leak? Only time will tell. We'll be sure to let you know when Sony officially announces the PlayStation Plus December lineup.
