FaZe Banks Breaks His Silence On FaZe Jarvis

It looks like FaZe Jarvis is once again back in the news, but this time, it's not because of anything the former Fortnite pro and content creator did. Rather, it's because another major player in the esports community weighed in on his situation. This one is worth paying a little more attention to than the others, though, as that other player happened to be FaZe Banks: the owner of FaZe Clan.

Yeah — the guy who is, for all intents and purposes, Jarvis' boss.

Fortunately for Jarvis, Banks didn't really have anything negative to say about the former's lifetime ban from Fortnite, and didn't have any bad news to share about Jarvis' future with the clan. Instead, when approached by TMZSports for a comment on the matter, Banks offered what can basically be described as a short update, with a little bit of support mixed in.

"He's good man, Jarvis is doing really good," Banks said when asked about his young clan member. "He's back at home, kicking with his family. He's holding in there, he's family so we got him."

Even better news for Jarvis: It sure sounds like FaZe Clan wants to find some way to keep using him. Jarvis may not be allowed to play Fortnite anymore, but he could still have a future creating content about the game. That seems like an avenue FaZe Banks is willing to explore.

"The chances of him playing Fortnite are zero," Banks said. "The chances of him creating content around Fortnite – there's potential in that. Kinda just going with the flow."

Perhaps we'll see FaZe Jarvis in a Fortnite-related video — while not actually playing the game himself — sometime soon.

Why did FaZe Jarvis get banned from Fortnite?

The FaZe Jarvis saga first started unfolding at the beginning of November, when — in a tear-filled apology video — Jarvis admitted to cheating while playing Fortnite. According to Jarvis himself, he was using an aimbot to increase his aiming speed and accuracy in the game, and though he wasn't playing competitively at the time, Epic Games — the studio behind the title — came down hard with its punishment. Jarvis was banned from Fortnite for life, which meant he could not compete professionally in the title, nor could he play the game for the purposes of creating content.

As you can imagine, this put FaZe Jarvis' livelihood into serious question. As Jarvis was signed to FaZe Clan as a pro Fortnite player and made content focused on the title, the ban basically stripped him of an essential tool for his job. Many wondered if Jarvis would remain a member of FaZe or if he'd be released and left to figure the rest of his life out. At least for the moment, it sounds like FaZe is going to keep him around and see if he can't find some other way to contribute. We have a feeling that Jarvis would really, really like that Fortnite ban lifted, though.

Some said FaZe Jarvis's ban was too harsh

When it comes to Fortnite, there may be no bigger name on the scene than Ninja. As Epic's battle royale shooter became more mainstream, Ninja's career took off, and it wasn't long before Ninja was pretty mainstream himself. He's been on Ellen. He's competed on The Masked Singer. He got to play Fortnite with Drake, for crying out loud.

And how does Ninja feel about FaZe Jarvis' ban, you might be wondering? It might surprise you to learn that the streaming star used some pretty strong language to express his unhappiness with Epic's decision.

"There's a difference between a content creator who has millions of subscribers," Ninja said, "who then gets banned from what makes him money, and some kid who is just a piece of sh-t who has zero followers, zero money from gaming and hacks."

Ninja even had a few ideas for how Jarvis could make amends without being fully locked out of Fortnite.

"There's got to be some kind of punishment other than being banned," Ninja pondered. "Community service, I don't know. Maybe a fine, too."

As far as we can tell, those are options Epic Games is not willing to consider at this time.

Will FaZe Jarvis ever be allowed to play Fortnite again?

Will FaZe Jarvis truly remain banned from Fortnite forever? It's really tough to say. On one hand, we've seen Epic take a hard stance against cheaters in general, even going so far as to sue those who propagated cheats for its game. On the other hand, though, completely shutting down someone's career over one mistake also seems a tad bit extreme. In the NFL, for example, most forms of cheating don't result in lifetime bans — a player is either penalized, or fined, or both, and life goes on. Only through repeat violations can someone be suspended for multiple games or, ultimately, be jettisoned from the league.

We understand that Epic wants to make an example out of someone, and Jarvis just happened to be that someone. But is a lifetime ban a justifiable punishment, or is it overkill?

We're not sure, but we do know that if any other FaZe Jarvis news pops up, we'll be sure to keep you informed.
