Kingdom Hearts 3's Upcoming DLC Has Some Secrets

Kingdom Hearts 3 isn't done with us yet. Square Enix is hard at work on the Final Fantasy 7 Remake (which is not one, but three games) but still found time to produce a few more adventures for Sora and the gang. Now the devs are finally dishing some details on the Kingdom Hearts 3 ReMind DLC.

This news comes from the Japanese Kingdom Hearts website, which fills us in on what we can expect from ReMind. According to a translation by Gematsu, "ReMind depicts another story that Sora has yet to experience. It is a reunion with the friends you encountered in the past that adds all sorts of new elements." Those friends from the past include the Seven Guardians of Light, and Sora gets to experience their battles, as ReMind takes place (spoilers!) just before the climactic battle at the Keyblade Graveyard.

The DLC isn't all about Sora, however. Players can switch between other keyblade wielders like Riku, Aqua, Roxas, and Kairi. If you're looking for a challenge to take on as these super strong characters, ReMind allows you to face off against all 13 members of the Real Organization XIII. Square Enix says that these are "high difficulty battles," but no worries: some battles allow for you to switch between characters, letting players discover which character best fits their battling needs.

What about those secrets? While most of the page is forthcoming with details about ReMind, there are a few rather mysterious sections. Apparently, more information will later come out about a "Greeting Mode," "Slideshow Function," "Premium Menu," and most notably a "Secret Episode & Boss." A secret boss? Who could that be? We're not sure, but we're eager to find out.

PlayStation 4 players will have the privilege of finding out first when Kingdom Hearts 3 ReMind drops on Jan. 23. Xbox One players will have to wait a few days for the DLC to come to them on Jan. 25.
