New Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Trailer Reveals How Goku Stays In Shape

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot just keeps looking better and better. Ahead of next week's release, Bandai Namco has released a new trailer for the latest video game adaptation of the legendary anime series. If you've always wondered how Goku stays in such great shape, then you're in luck.

The new trailer is based all around the concept of "character progression," showing all the different ways our heroes can hone their abilities and prepare themselves for battle with the likes of Frieza and Cell. As the narrator of the video explains, characters can earn experience and level up through battling with various enemies. However, there are plenty of other methods available for fighters seeking even greater power. For example, eating different kinds of food will permanently increase different stats for your characters. Food can be found in the wild or obtained from cooks in various settlements throughout the game.

Super Attacks can be earned by collecting different colored "Z Orbs" spread around the game's areas. These orbs can be redeemed to unlock more of your characters' skill trees. Players can also unlock new abilities by doing some good old fashioned combat training at special training areas.

Naturally, this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the possibilities afforded to dedicated warriors with this game. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will cover the entire series' storyline, pitting Goku, Piccolo, and the rest of the gang against intergalactic threats.

It was recently revealed that the story campaign for Kakarot runs approximately 40 hours in length, not including side missions spread throughout the game's open world. According to a report from Wccftech, "To see everything the game has to offer, players will need over 100 hours." In other words, all of the hard work put into character progression will surely pay off — and players will have plenty of time to test out their new abilities when the game releases on Jan. 17.
