Batman's Next Game Is Teased Yet Again

Okay, this is starting to feel like a plot cooked up by the Riddler.

WB Games Montreal has posted cryptic images to its Facebook and Instagram accounts that appear to be two halves of the same logo or crest. This in itself shouldn't be cause for alarm. However, both images are accompanied by a foreboding caption: "Capture the Knight."

This post comes a few months after the developers published a video featuring similarly bizarre symbols and the same log-line. The iconography used in these teases has led to speculation that the next Batman game would somehow involve the villainous Court of Owls. This theory was bolstered by the fact that the Court of Owls' creator, comics writer Scott Snyder, retweeted the video and then quickly deleted his post. It's also worth mentioning that this video was released during the celebration of Batman's 80th anniversary. In other words, there's no way this isn't all connected to the Dark Knight.

The idea of a new Batman game is of course an exciting one, given how beloved the Batman: Arkham series has become. Given how the last installment in the series concluded, one can't help but wonder how WB Games Montreal would go about continuing the story. The new game could be a prequel, focusing on Batman's early days when he was still under suspicion from the Gotham City Police. This would seem to line up nicely with the idea of Batman eluding "capture."

Basically, we know at this point that there's a new Batman game in the works. We just aren't sure what the teases all mean or when we can expect an official announcement. One thing is for sure, though: the hype is building to a fever pitch. With a new Batman film on the way, now would be the perfect time to allow gamers to once more don the cape and cowl.
