Another Pokemon Remake Is Coming To Nintendo Switch

When we first heard about today's Nintendo Direct, we thought it would be primarily about Sword and Shield. Nintendo couldn't possibly be rolling out another Pokemon game, could it? As it turns out, yes. Sword and Shield are getting huge expansions, and yet another Pokemon title is making its way to Nintendo Switch.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX was announced as a modern-day remake of two past Mystery Dungeon titles: Rescue Team Red and Rescue Team Blue. These games both debuted back in 2005 on the Game Boy Advance, and were developed by Chunsoft, which went on to develop the Danganronpa series and Zero Time Dilemma.

The premise of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX is simple: you are a Pokemon, and you'll be tasked with recruiting and managing a team to take on ever-changing dungeons. The game's description on the Nintendo eShop tells you pretty much everything you need to know.

"As you recruit Pokemon," it reads, "these trusty teammates will need somewhere to stay, so build camps to house, manage and strengthen your Pokemon friends. Think hard about who is right for the job and how to approach each mysterious dungeon as you prepare a rescue team. You'll move a single square at a time or use Auto mode to speed up movement until you engage other Pokemon in turn-based battles–but don't forget about Pokemon strengths and weaknesses!"

The remake comes sporting some pretty fantastic looking watercolor art, showing that Nintendo wasn't content to just update older graphics and call it a day. And there's even a demo available right now that'll carry your progress over to the full game when it arrives. It seems like Nintendo really wants us to play this game. But let's be honest: if you're a Pokemon fan, you probably didn't need more convincing.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX comes to Nintendo Switch on March 6, 2020. It'll retail at a full $59.99, so you might want to start saving now.
