Do You Get Anything For Pre-Ordering Animal Crossing: New Horizons?

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is on the ... horizon. Before it releases, you might consider pre-ordering the game if you're already sold on the island lifestyle. There are some cases where pre-ordering will give you the most bang for your Bells. A few retailers are offering bonuses alongside your copy of the game should you choose to buy before the March 20 release date.

All that said, there isn't a universal bonus for pre-ordering. Nintendo sometimes offers perks in exchange for pre-orders, as it did with Pokemon Sword and Shield, but it has forgone any extra goodies for this game. Instead Target, Best Buy, Walmart, and GameStop are offering additional items should you pre-order through them.

My Best Buy members who order Animal Crossing: New Horizons from the retailer will get a certificate for $10. It's not a bag of Bells, but it certainly is something.

Walmart is throwing in a tote bag if you pre-order the game. The bag — perfect storage for your Switch — has Isabelle, KK Slider, and Tom Nook emblazoned on the front.

Target, on the other hand, is giving away an Animal Crossing: New Horizons-themed journal alongside pre-orders. The notebook is covered with the series' iconic leaves, and even comes with dated calendars inside, so that you can keep track of birthdays, festivals, and events.

Finally, GameStop is pulling out all the stops and giving out double-sided posters with pre-orders of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. One side is a collection of snapshots from the game while the other is an icon-style display of your neighbors and favorite items.

While it might be a bummer that Nintendo isn't giving out any extras on what's sure to be a widely pre-ordered game, there are still some bonuses to be snatched up. It all depends on where you place your pre-order.
