How Long Does It Take To Beat Final Fantasy 7 Remake?

Final Fantasy 7 is one doozy of an adventure. Cloud and his eco-terrorist crew are, after all, trying to save the world. One does not simply stop the destruction of a planet in just a few hours.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake is just the first of three parts. Square Enix wanted to expand upon and give proper polish to the modern version of its cult classic hit. Therefore, the first game is only about 20% of the final product. Players will be limited to the portion of the original story that takes place in the city of Midgar, where Cloud first gets to know Avalanche and its big beef with the Shinra Power Company.

Initially, prospective players were concerned Final Fantasy 7 Remake would feel abbreviated or cut short. Director and concept designer Tetsuya Nomura tried to assuage those fears, saying, "Opportunities for discussing our true intentions are few, but with regard to the size of the game that many are asking about – there's no reason at all to worry. Even in this Midgar portion alone, the density and volume are so great that I had to give directions to lighten them."

Tetsuya was true to his word. Playing through the whole story of Final Fantasy 7 Remake will take you around 40 hours. There's plenty of traveling and side quests to keep you distracted from your main purpose as well, so completionist playthroughs could stretch into the 50 hour range.

Based on the rave reviews for the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, 40 hours is the perfect amount of time to spend immersed in the hustle and bustle of Midgar. Critics are impressed, and truly don't seem to mind that this game is just the first in what's sure to be a series of hits.
