GTA 6 Might Be More Realistic Than Anyone Expected
Rockstar has been blowing gamers away for decades, with every new title from the studio raising the bar for realism in video games. "Red Dead Redemption 2" took gaming worlds and NPCs to another level when it debuted in 2018, and now fans are ready to see the same thing play out when "GTA 6" (hopefully) comes out in November 2026.
Fans are so excited for the game that they're digging into who the rumored "GTA 6" cast members are and rewatching the first trailer, which now has more than a quarter of a billion views on YouTube. Thanks to some recent alleged leaks that have fans split, impatient gamers have a new way to spend their time and a new source of hype about the release. Some Reddit posts from people claiming to be former Rockstar employees have excited the "GTA" community and shed light on what the dialogue, NPCs, and world of "GTV 6" might look and sound like.
Expect next level dialogue with push immersion
With every game in the franchise, "Grand Theft Auto" has improved its approach to dialogue and storytelling. No one doubts that "GTA 6" will have the most realistic dialogue in the entire series, but the fan community has recently been talking about a possible leak related to the game's dialogue system.
In March 2026 a Reddit post made some big claims about how "GTA 6" will handle conversations between players and NPCs. The poster claimed to have worked for Rockstar, saying, "I was on audio regression + subtitle validation for a few months." They also claimed that Rockstar recorded more voice lines for "GTA 6" than for any other game in the series, and pointed to the company's exemption from a SAG-AFTRA strike in 2024 as supporting evidence.
The leaker said that the thousands and thousands of voice lines recorded for "GTA 6" include unique reactions and tonal responses from virtually all of the game's NPCs, based on variables from the player's reputation to the time of day. On top of that, the game will apparently be so lifelike that players can hang out in a single area for a long time without the illusion being broken. "We had to test 'line exhaustion' where you just stand in one spot for like 20 minutes and see if it loops," said the post, adding "It almost never did unless something broke." If that's true than "GTA 6" will set a new standard for NPC dialogue in gaming.
Super advanced NPCs will populate the game
A staggering amount of voice lines and dialogue trees that make your eyes water are just one part of the realism formula in "GTA 6." The game's world is also going to be brought to life by the most advanced NPCs and behavior patterns that Rockstar has ever created. Gamers got to see the improvements Rockstar made to its NPCs between "GTA 5" and "Red Dead Redemption 2," and a Redditor claiming to be a former Rockstar employee says "GTA 6" will take those systems so much further.
In a lengthy post, the former developer described some of the "GTA 6" game systems they'd worked on back in 2020. According to the post, "GTA 6" expands on the greet/antagonize system from "RDR 2," allowing players to interact with NPCs in more ways like complimenting, flirting, insulting, and threatening. NPCs will also apparently remember their interactions with players and respond in ways that make it feel like relationships are developing naturally over time.
The post does make some claims that sound rather far-fetched — for example, that "GTA 6" will allow players to input text to interact with NPCs directly, which sounds like a UI nightmare on consoles. On the other hand, it also makes claims about NPC behavior in "GTA 6" that sounds right in line with what Rockstar has tried to do in other games. For example, the post claims that NPCs will have location-relevant behavior when players run into them at places like airports or grocery stores. "RDR 2" took realism to another level with its towns and NPCs, and "GTA 6" is going to outdo it.
There will be more explorable buildings than ever before
It's easy to find threads online full of endless speculation about the "GTA 6" map. We know that the game is taking players back to Vice City, and we know that it will let them explore the surrounding areas in the state of Leonida. It's probably safe to assume that the "GTA 6" map will be bigger than the one in "GTA 5" and "RDR 2." There are also good reasons to expect that the game will have more explorable interiors than any Rockstar game in history.
Every "GTA" game has helped make the franchise more and more realistic. We've come a long way since Tommy first put on a new outfit in "GTA: Vice City," and in "GTA 6" players will likely get to have unbelievably lifelike shopping experiences. "The interiors in the game are extensive. There are massive supermarkets similar in size to major real life chains, fully enterable, with NPCs working registers, scanning items, and shopping normally," wrote the same ex-Rockstar employee who made claims about the upcoming game's NPCs on Reddit. It's not just stores and shopping malls, though. The game will apparently include everything from gyms to hotels to zoos that players can explore and interact with in countless ways.
Smartphones with have an integral role to play
Cell phones have been a part of the "GTA" universe for a long time, but there are rumors that they'll play a bigger role in "GTA 6" than they did in previous games. According to that Reddit post claiming to be from an ex-Rockstar employee, phones in "GTA 6" will be as functional as they are in the real world. They'll come loaded with apps that are designed to be parodies of real-world platforms, but they'll also have some genuinely useful features.
The post says, "Messages from NPCs are also integrated, so if you built a connection or friendship, your phone becomes a way to continue interactions and relationships in the game." It also says that phones will play an integral role in planning bigger crimes like heists that will help propel players forward in the game. If you were hoping that "GTA 6" would help you finally break your doomscrolling habit, you might need to come up with another solution before November 2026.
