All The Actors We Recognized In The GTA 6 Extended Look

While "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City" had an incredibly stacked cast of Hollywood heavyweights, and "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" notably featured Samuel L. Jackson and Chris Penn as two of GTA's all time great villains, Rockstar has largely avoided big name actors for the series since then. It was a deliberate shift, with co-founder Dan Houser pointing to a combination of ego problems and also just not wanting to break players' immersion with instantly recognizable voices.

Sure enough, true to that second tenet, you weren't constantly hit over the head with "that's so and so!" as you were watching the extended look at "Grand Theft Auto 6" on August 27. To Houser's point, it allowed the focus to be on the characters, not the actors. However, it seems pretty obvious that the character of Brian Heder — who seems to serve as something of a boss/mentor to Jason — is beloved character actor Stephen Root.

The other actor that everyone seems to be in agreement on is "Saturday Night Live" alum Bobby Moynihan voicing Cal Hampton, another associate of Brian and Jason who seems to be the game's token unhinged conspiracy guy. In the earlier trailers, people thought Cal might have been celebrity chef Matty Matheson of "The Bear" fame — but that consensus seems to have shifted after the extended look when people got to hear a lot more of Cal talking. To be clear, neither of these have been confirmed by Rockstar, but fans seems pretty convinced of these two in particular. 

Of course, the two "GTA 6" actors that people are most interested in sussing out are the ones behind Jason and Lucia. Again, Rockstar has yet to announce any of the "GTA 6" cast, which has been par for the course for the series since "GTA 4." Besides there not being much point in announcing actors that aren't major household names, since that isn't going to do much to add to the game's hype, Rocktstar also doesn't want to highlight anyone who may know plot spoilers and other details about an upcoming "GTA" game. The minute the internet-empowered public knows someone is in a "GTA" game, they would immediately start hounding that person for information — which isn't good for Rockstar or the actor.

All that being said, internet sleuthing has led to a widely-accepted consensus as to who plays Jason and Lucia in "GTA 6." Given that she not only sounds like the character but bears more than a passing resemblance to her (strengthened by her previously voicing a blackjack dealer in "GTA Online"), everyone seems to have landed on Manni L. Perez as Lucia. As for Jason, people have been pretty stuck on it being Dylan Rourke for awhile now, who has appeared on TV shows like "Station 19," "Grey's Anatomy," and "9-1-1: Lone Star." 

IMDb has already gone ahead and officially credited both on its page for "Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look," which has only fueled the fire that Perez and Rourke have been confirmed for the roles. But as a reminder, IMDb is user-edited — and unlike Wikipedia, it doesn't require any sort of sourcing or citations whatsoever. So this information being on IMDb doesn't mean much. We'll check back when they're confirmed.
