Cyberpunk 2077's Photo Mode Could Be A Real Game Changer

CD Projekt Red's highly anticipated sci-fi RPG, Cyberpunk 2077, is finally due for release on Dec 10, following a number of frustrating delays. Since the game was first announced in 2012, gamers have been chomping at the bit to get their hands on the futuristic dystopian adventure (excited enough to check out spoiler leaks that have been popping up online), and 2020 hasn't made things easy for anyone regarding the game's development. But in spite of past rumors that the title would be delayed yet again, it seems that CD Projekt Red is finally ending the long wait.

Fans have even more to get excited about after a trailer dropped on YouTube showcasing the game's photo mode. Since the gameplay in Cyberpunk 2077 is primarily seen from a first-person perspective, the game's photo mode is a big chance for players to show off their customized character.

This photo mode is more than just a well-timed screenshot. In the middle of the action, players can pause the game, change their character's position and pose, and edit their picture with a number of effects and filters. The trailer shows five photo tools: camera, depth of field, pose, effect, and stickers.

The camera tool allows the player to change the camera type, field of view, and rotation, while the depth of field changes aperture and focus. Players can use the sticker tool to add a frame and change the background, and offers a number of stickers for a bit of flair. The effect bar lets them play with exposure, grain, contrast, and — if someone wants the old school look of an 1980's music video — chromatic aberration.

The pose feature is where players can play with their character's expressions and offers a variety of entertaining posing options, including a "V for Victory" pose and the colorfully dubbed "Roundhouse Shot to the Face." One clip from the trailer shows a character kicking back on the hood of a car and admiring the sunrise. The pose tool also has a feature that can turn on and off character visibility, in case players want to take in the neon lights of the dystopian scenery.

The Photo Mode feature has begun to crop up more and more in recent years, including in games like Horizon: Zero Dawn and the newest God of War. It seems that the days of screenshots are becoming a thing of the past, as gamers are allowed more and more opportunities to show off their creative skills and share them online. Cyberpunk 2077's photo mode is just a taste of what's to come, and fans can fully appreciate everything the game has to offer on Dec. 10.
