Jan. 21 Will Be A Big Day For Resident Evil Fans

Mark your calendars, Resident Evil fans, because Jan. 21 at 2:00 p.m. Pacific is your next chance to get insider details about the next game in the series, Resident Evil Village. Today, on Jan. 14, the team behind the game officially announced the upcoming Resident Evil Showcase on Twitter.

So, what can players expect from the showcase? According to the tweet that has fans all over the world fired up, which includes a quick montage of scenes from the game, the developers will be debuting all-new footage, gameplay, and more. The Showcase will be hosted by Brittney Brombacher of the What's Good Games podcast, and members of the Resident Evil Village production team are expected to be joining in on this special virtual event.

This isn't the first time the Resident Evil team has created some major hype for the upcoming release of Resident Evil: Village. The June 2020 trailer release brought as many questions as it did answers. Who can be trusted? What puzzles and mysteries await? What easter eggs and callbacks from former games may be part of this new title?

Anticipation has been building for Resident Evil: Village for quite some time. More recently in Nov. 2020, top-ranking pro tennis player Naomi Osaka tried out the PS5 and the game, giving players insights into what they might expect. Among the exciting glimpses into what's coming for the game, fans got to see new vertical maneuvering possibilities, a mysterious stalking enemy, and lead protagonist Ethan wearing a wedding ring. 

Within two hours of the Twitter announcement, Resident Evil's tweet earned thousands of likes and retweets. The bulk of users in the comments section took the chance to express their excitement as well as share various theories and hopes for what's to come for the beloved game series. One user quipped that they'd been waiting their entire life for this announcement, while others remarked that they were excited to finally get a good look at the title's gameplay.

With all that's been revealed with each new peak at Resident Evil Village, gamers are surely in for a big treat. Come 2:00 p.m. Pacific on Jan. 21, fans of Resident Evil will likely have much to celebrate, question, and anticipate. Hopefully the announcement includes an official release date, so fans can finally narrow down exactly when they can get our hands on this scary new chapter of Resident Evil.
