We Finally Know The Release Date For Resident Evil: Village

Rejoice, Resident Evil fans. Resident Evil: Village will release on May 7 — and not just for PlayStation 5. As announced during Capcom's Jan. 21 Resident Evil Showcase, fans can preorder the game now — there's even a standalone demo for PlayStation 5, titled Maiden, ready for download.

In addition to a new story trailer and stunningly spooky first-look gameplay footage, the showcase revealed that Resident Evil: Village will be available on Playstation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC. A separate demo will also release for all platforms sometime in the spring.

Village will serve the eighth numbered installment in the series and the sequel to Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. Like Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Village will preserve the first-person experience. "We think it really draws players in to the detailed world we've created," game producer Peter Fabiano said during the showcase. "The team put a ton of effort into creating a truly authentic feel. From art design to technology, everything ties in great and creates some beautiful visuals."

In addition to the Standard Edition of Resident Evil: Village, Fabiano described several options for purchasing the game. There's the digital Deluxe Edition, available for all platforms, which comes with additional goodies as part of the "Trauma Pack," including in-game items that reference Biohazard. The Collector's Edition, restricted to console players, includes the Deluxe Edition items, a Chris Redfield figure, poster, steelbook case, and artbook. There's also a bundle edition that includes Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil: Village, allowing newcomers to occupy themselves with Biohazard until May rolls around.

PlayStation players who preorder from the PlayStation Store will get an exclusive Resident Evil: Village Mini-Soundtrack. Otherwise, preordering any of the editions will give players access to some fun items like the Mr. Raccoon Weapon Charm and a Survival Resource Pack. Capcom is also offering all Village purchasers access to Resident Evil Re:Verse, its new multiplayer experience, for free.
