Black Ops Cold War Zombies: How To Get Thor's Hammer

When Call of Duty Cold War: Black Ops launched on Nov. 13, 2020, it also brought back Zombies. The popular gameplay mode has been a Call of Duty staple since 2008, and it plays like it sounds: players try to stay alive against wave after wave of the undead. Cold War: Black Ops brought several additions to Zombies, like the new timed survival challenge "Cranked," but it also brought back Pack-a-Punch, the vending machine that can upgrade weapons.

In Zombies, it's all about the weapons, and developer Treyarch keeps adding new weapons and mods to keep the novelty going. The Sledgehammer first appeared during Call of Duty: World War 2's "Halloween Scream" event in Fall 2017, and it made its triumphant return in Black OpsSeason One event, which began on Dec. 16, 2020.

But with just a few steps, the Sledgehammer can be upgraded into the mighty Zjolnir, a lightning-shooting weapon inspired by Mjolnir, Thor's magic hammer.

How to get Thor's Hammer in Black Ops: Cold War

First, you'll need to unlock the Sledgehammer itself. To do that, you'll need to perform 15 double-kills with the combat knife, i.e. killing two enemies in a short amount of time. Making it even more difficult, each double-kill needs to occur in a separate multiplayer match.

Once you have the Sledgehammer, use the Pack-a-Punch to upgrade it to at least Tier 3. This officially transforms the sledge into Zjolnir, but it's not fully complete without the ability to shoot lightning bolts. To do that, purchase the "Dead Wire" ammo upgrade, also in the Pack-a-Punch machine. Now, each swing of the Sledge will deal electrical damage to enemies.

But the big question, is Zjolnir any good? While it can hit multiple enemies with one swing, giving it some potential as a Zombies crowd-control weapon, the swing is so slow that it's easy to get overwhelmed. But at least it's something new. And it's still better than Hawkeye's bow and arrow.
