We Finally Know When Biomutant Will Release

Biomutant, an upcoming sci-fi RPG game developed by Experiment 101 and developed by THQ Nordic, finally has a release date. It was announced on Twitter today that the game will be releasing May 25, 2021. This announcement comes after months of no word on a release date.

After an initial trailer back in 2017, a gameplay trailer in 2018, and a few delayed release dates, fans were beginning to wonder if the game was going to be cancelled. Although fans don't know the specifics regarding the many delays, the title's official Twitter account stayed fairly active throughout the years. At one point, Experiment 101 apparently changed office spaces, but that was one of the few hints at what may have caused a delay. The COVID-19 pandemic has also been a major cause for game release delays across the board, but Biomutant was experiencing issues before the pandemic struck globally.

A 2020 report from Embracer Group, the parent company of THQ Nordic, predicted that the game would be released during the fiscal year ending on March 31, 2021. With the new release date, it's obvious that this will not come to pass.

On Feb. 19, 2020, the official Biomutant Twitter account posted a notice about the Biomutant release date, noting that it "will reveal the release date as soon as everyone at [the] studio feels confident about hitting that date." The next update was the official release date announcement. It's worth noting that the official blog for the game lacked any kind of update between December 2018 and today's announcement. It's no wonder that fans were concerned about whether or not the game would finally see release.

Biomutant is an open-world RPG game that stands out because of the martial arts combat mixed with shooters. Oh yeah, the main character is a racoon with an eyepatch. The game has amassed a large following on social media, even with a distinct lack of news updates within the last few years.

The gameplay trailer for Biomutant shows off a colorful world with villains that are just as memorable and unique as the main character. The Biomutant website promises to keep players entertained by unlocking new powers throughout gameplay while also learning new combat skills from NPCs met in the game. Now fans finally know when they will be able to start blasting and gliding their way through the world of Biomutant.
