Sonic Loses Another Voice Actor

Sonic voice actor Cindy Robinson revealed on Twitter that she will not be returning to voice the pink hedgehog, Amy, in any more Sonic releases.

After being asked by a fan on Twitter, Robinson replied, "I'm loading out with my brilliant compadres." These "brilliant compadres," of course, include Sonic voice actor Roger Craig Smith, as well as Colleen O'Shaughnessey, the voice of Tails. Roger Craig Smith announced on Twitter that his ten years as the iconic blue hedgehog had come to an end. Similarly, Colleen O'Shaughnessey replied to a Tweet saying that she won't be voicing Tails in Sonic Prime, the upcoming Netflix Sonic show

Robinson has been the voice actress for Amy since 2010, voicing her in Sonic Colors, the various Sonic Boom games and episodes, and the Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games releases. One Twitter user commented about how much she's grown as a voice actress throughout her time as Amy and also stated that she'll be missed. He's not the only one — the Twitter thread was flooded with responses as fans thanked Amy and expressed how much they'll miss her.

The official Sonic Twitter account has acknowledged Roger Craig Smith's leaving with a heartfelt thank-you to the voice actor. However, it hasn't said anything about Robinson's or O'Shaughnessey's departure yet. Robinson and the others might not be the only Sonic employees out, either. According to a Tweet shared on Reddit last year, two major Sonic writers might be out of the company as well. Ken Pontac and Warren Graff's LinkedIn pages seem to indicate that they're not presently working with Sega of America. Again, there's no official news about this, but the loss of two writers who have been with the company since 2009 could impact future Sonic games.

While there's no clear reason why Cindy Robinson and the others departed from the show, this isn't the first time Sonic voice actors have changed throughout the years. In fact, one of the past Sonic voice actors has expressed interest in returning to the series. Ryan Drummand, who voiced Sonic in Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2, and Sonic Heroes, announced on a livestream with EmuEmi that his agent had reached out to Sega. This could mean that Drummand is coming back to voice the main character in Sonic Prime and future games. However, nothing is official, and there hasn't been any formal news on who exactly is replacing Sonic, Amy, or Tails in upcoming releases.
