How Long Does It Take To Beat Ghostwire: Tokyo?

Tango Gameworks puts gamers on the edge with its latest action-adventure. In "Ghostwire: Tokyo," you play as a young man with supernatural powers, journeying through a spirit-infested Tokyo to save his family. Everyone in Tokyo has been "spirited away" thanks to a vengeful occultist, and Yokai from Japan's urban legends have taken over the city. It's up you to uncover the truth behind the disappearance and reverse it. That is, if you can survive the tons of Yokai after your neck.

"Ghostwire: Tokyo" has long been one of the most anticipated games of 2022. Naturally, that means many fans want to know how much time to set aside for Bethesda's latest action game.

For the most part, publications agreed with how long "Ghostwire" should take. Fanbyte estimated that players could spend between 10 and 20 hours playing through the title, depending on how much time players decide to spend on sidequests and at what difficulty level they play. Likewise, PC Gamer's Imogen Mellor finished the game in about 10 and a half hours but noted that, with all the side missions, it's probably closer to 20 hours. Andrew Webster, who reviewed the game for Polygon, called it a "tight package that can be wrapped up in less than 20 hours."

"Ghostwire: Tokyo" Game Director Kenji Kimura and Producer Masato Kimura also agreed with the general 10-to-20-hour rule. In fact, they thought players might find even more to love if they keep exploring.

How long Ghostwire: Tokyo takes, according to developers

During an interview with Wcctech, Kenji Kimura mentioned that the game should take about 15 hours to finish.

"In regards to the longevity of Ghostwire: Tokyo, we think it's about 15 hours just to complete the main missions," he said. "If you want to play and enjoy all of the side missions, depending on your skill level, it would probably take about twice that amount of time or more. And so we'd say about 30 to 40 hours of gameplay if you wanted to do all of the side content."

So those looking to play through the story without dabbling in side quests can do so in about 15 hours. However, those who find themselves interested in side stories and other content might find that the number will double to what they expected. In short, about 15 hours for the main story, but that time can be roughly doubled for those who want to do anything else besides that.

"Ghostwire: Tokyo" comes out on March 25, 2022 for PlayStation 5 and PC. Unfortunately, it won't be available for the PlayStation 4.
