Everyone's Saying The Same Thing About Overwatch Honoring Kim 'Alarm' Kyeong-Bo

The "Overwatch" community continues to mourn the loss of one of its most celebrated members who died suddenly in November 2021. In his 20 years of life, one of Kim "Alarm" Kyeong-Bo's biggest passions was his professional "Overwatch" career, which was quite the success. The late gamer played for Philadelphia Fusion and made a name for himself as one of the top flex support players on the planet. He was even named the 2020 Rookie of the Year thanks to his incredible talents.

As painful as his untimely death was for those close to him and the greater "Overwatch" and Fusion community, Alarm's legacy is something worth celebrating. On May 5, "Overwatch" League did just that in a touching tribute shared on Twitter. Along with a three-minute video honoring Alarm's life and career, the organization unveiled some meaningful news in the accompanying caption: "Kyeongbo 'Alarm' Kim was an inspiration to many, his impact as a player, teammate, and friend will never be forgotten. To honor his legacy, we are introducing the Alarm Rookie of the Year Award."

It's quite fitting that the award named in Alarm's honor is one he earned during his lifetime. "Overwatch" community members found the recognition a beautiful way to memorialize him and the mark he made on his fans, loved ones, and fellow gamers.

The community was touched by Overwatch League's tribute to Alarm

Many "Overwatch" community members expressed similar sentiments in response to "Overwatch" League honoring Alarm by adding his name to the Rookie of the Year Award. Multiple "Overwatch" League teams paid their respects. The LA Gladiators called the tribute "a truly wonderful way to honor his legacy." The team added, "We look forward to celebrating him, along with Dennis Hawelka, every year," alluding to the mentorship award named after another "Overwatch" icon who died young. The Dallas Fuel also offered support for one of the best supports in the game, writing, "an incredible decision. you'll always be with us alarm."

Fans felt much the same about Alarm's honor, with one writing, "this is so special, thank you to all the people that made it possible to immortalize the legacy of such a talented and kind man." In the words of another fan, "Suddenly I was back to that day when we all collectively found out and how much that shook the entire community. I'm glad we're doing this to remember him and the love he shared for competing." There were many more heartfelt messages, including many wishes for Alarm to rest well.

Clearly, the announcement of the Alarm Rookie of the Year Award by "Overwatch" League was a well-received honor that brought comfort to the community after an impactful loss.
