Elden Ring: Where To Find Comet Azur And What It Does

A game like "Elden Ring" isn't one that most players would call "user-friendly." Like past games from creator Hidetaka Miyazaki–"Demon Souls," the "Dark Souls" trilogy, "Bloodborne," and "Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice"–"Elden Ring" offers up challenging, punishing combat that requires painstaking study to master. Often, the game's toughest enemies only have one or two weaknesses that can be exploited to bring them down. Picking the right tool for the job is often the difference between triumph and death.

"Elden Ring" offers up hundreds of weapons and armors to choose from. For players who rely on Sorceries, there are 13 different Sorcery groups, each of which contains multiple spells to choose from. Using any spell requires a Glintstone Staff, which can be upgraded to deal more damage.

For most Sorcery users, the starting spell is Glintstone Pebble. It's a useful option for most of the game, depending on the situation. However, if you're looking for the Sorcery that packs the most punch, you'll definitely want Comet Azur.

Primeval Sorcerer Azur in Mt. Gelmir will give you Comet Azur

Comet Azur is found in the Mt. Gelmir region, and it requires a bit of a hike unless you've already discovered Hermit Village. Primeval Sorcerer Azur is located on the outskirts of the village and has his very own Site of Grace.

If you haven't discovered Hermit Village, start at the Erdtree Grazing Hill Site of Grace and head north along the rocky cliffs until you reach Wyndham Ruins. This is a watery area with a Tibia Mariner field boss, but you can ride Torrent past it. Continue on west until you reach the Seethewater River Site of Grace.

From there, follow Seethewater River north until you reach the Seethewater Terminus Site of Grace. Avoid the exploding natural gas springs and falling enemies along the way. From the Site of Grace, continue heading west past the remnants of the battlefield outside Fort Laiedd, then head past the fort to the south. You'll pass a lava field with a Magma Wyrm boss, which is optional. Keep heading south and eventually east, following the path until you come to the Craftsman's Hut Site of Grace.

The Craftsman's Hut is on the opposite side of Hermit's Village from Primeval Sorcerer Azur. Simply ride through the village until you find his Site of Grace next to a cliff. He's just past the area for the Demi-Human Queen Maggie Maggie boss fight, which is also optional. Primeval Sorcerer Azur is found seated near the Site of Grace. Talk to him. He won't say anything, but he will give you Comet Azur.

Comet Azur is one of the most powerful glintstone sorceries in the game

Comet Azur is one of three Primeval Sorceries in the game, and it's about as straightforward as sorceries come. The item description says it fires a "tremendous comet in a torrent." In other words, it blasts a big blue beam of energy that does high damage. If a sorcerer in "Elden Ring" is a glass cannon, Comet Azur is about the best cannon you can find.

Comet Azur is definitely a mid- to late-game option. It requires Intelligence level 60 to use, and its Focus cost is so high that it will quickly burn through your FP pool. Comet Azur also takes up three spell slots. Since each player starts with three spell slots, it's a good idea to boost that number with Memory Stones. Otherwise, Comet Azur is the only spell you'll be able to equip.

Relying on Comet Azur alone probably isn't a good idea, since it has a very slow windup. For best results, sneak up on your enemies and blast them with Comet Azur before they've even had a chance to respond. Field bosses and even main bosses will go down quickly–especially if you pair Comet Azur with one of the two most powerful glintstone staffs in the game.
