This is great news on its own, as gamers everywhere are clamoring to jump back into the incredible story of "God of War."

"God of War Ragnarok" picks up right where the previous game left off, with the twilight of the gods at hand. Like the first game, Kratos is accompanied by his teenage son, Atreus, but the stakes are much higher this time. In "God of War Ragnarok," the duo sets out to forestall the end of days, Ragnarok, and battle any gods who get in their way.

Additionally, like the previous entry, "God of War Ragnarok" will be available in multiple editions (via PlayStation.blog). And with pre-orders kicking off on July 15, it's time to check out what each edition offers. "God of War Ragnarok" will arrive in Digital Deluxe, Collector's, and Jotnar Editions. Each version of the game will ship with different extras.

What Does God of War Ragnarok Digital Deluxe Edition include?

The "God of War Ragnarok" Digital Deluxe Edition is the only special edition that doesn't include any physical extras. It does, however, provide players with some useful in-game goodies and digital downloads. Here's everything included with the Digital Deluxe Edition:

  • God of War Ragnarok digital code, redeemable on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
  • Darkdale Blades Handles, a weapon upgrade for Kratos' iconic Blades of Chaos.
  • Darkdale Axe Grip, an upgrade for Kratos' Leviathan Axe.
  • Kratos Darkdale Armor
  • Atreus Darkdale Attire, a purely cosmetic outfit for Atreus that offers no extra protection.
  • God of War Ragnarok Digital Soundtrack
  • Dark Horse Digital Mini Artbook
  • PlayStation 4 Theme
  • PlayStation Avatar Set

This edition's armor and weapon upgrades will boost Kratos' stats. These items aren't given to players at the start of the game, but are unlocked through story progression. In other words, even though they're cool, these items shouldn't give Digital Deluxe players too much of an advantage over those that purchased the standard edition.

What does God of War Ragnarok Collector's Edition include?

The Collector's Edition of "God of War Ragnarok" one-ups the Digital Deluxe Edition in a big way by providing gamers with multiple exciting physical items, as well as all of the extras that were included in the Digital Deluxe Edition, so players will also receive those armor and weapon upgrades. Here's what else comes with the Collector's Edition:

  • A 16" Mjölnir Replica is no doubt going to be the highlight of the Collector's Edition for many. The hammer is highly detailed and based on Thor's weapon in the game.
  • Two Vanir Twins Carvings are wooden toy carvings of the Huldra Brothers in the style of Atreus' in-game carvings.
  • Dwarven Dice Set, which has a wood-like finish and comes in a dice bag featuring a symbol of Yggdrasil — perfect for RPG fans.
  • A Steelbook Display Case, which depicts the Bear and the Wolf. This case does not include a game disc, however. You'll have to transfer your disc from the regular case that's also included with this edition of the game.

What does God of War Ragnarok Jotnar Edition include?

The Jotnar Edition is for those "God of War" superfans who can't get enough of the series. On top of all of the digital items provided in the lower tiers, this edition adds a few additional physical items that collectors are going to love:

  • Yggdrasil Cloth Map outlines all of the nine realms and their relation to the roots of the Yggdrasil.
  • The Falcon, Bear, and Wolf Pin Set represent Kratos' family. With a falcon pin for Faye, a bear pin for Kratos, and a wolf pin for Atreus.
  • The Legendary Draupnir Ring represents Odin's gold ring that is featured heavily in Norse Mythology.
  • 7-Inch Vinyl Record with two tracks of music by the game's composer Bear McCreary

In addition, all of the physical items from the collector's edition are included. So anyone who picks up the Jotnar Edition will likewise be worthy enough to lift Thor's hammer.
