Valkyrae Reveals When She Thinks She'll Stop Streaming

Content creator, streamer, and 100 Thieves owner Valkyrae has become one of the most recognizable figures in the gaming community. "Rae is the fastest growing live streamer in the entire world, and now the biggest female gaming streamer in the world," gushed YouTube gaming division head Ryan Wyatt in late 2021 (via The New York Times). However, tragic moments in Valkyrae's life have also caused her to step away from streaming and content creation for prolonged periods in the past and to speak out against online harassment. This has led to some of her fans worrying that she'll retire from streaming altogether one day.

These fears have mostly been unsubstantiated, with the real reason for some of Valkyrae's past absences chalked up to traveling and other engagements. However, it's only natural for devoted followers to wonder how long a person can sustain a career in the content creation and streaming realm, which is a very demanding business. Having amassed over 3.7 million subscribers on her YouTube channel, Valkyrae remains busy, constantly putting out new content and live streaming regularly. How much longer can she keep this up? According to her, she's got a lot left in the tank.

Valkyrae expects to stream for years to come

In an August 29 video posted to her YouTube channel, Valkyrae answered some questions sent in by fans. In the process, she revealed aspects of her life, such as the standout moment from her time in the industry and a major challenge she's faced because of her career. One of the earliest questions pertained to her future as a content creator and when she would eventually call it quits. At first, Valkyrae seemed caught off-guard by the inquiry. "Oh my god, I don't know," she responded.

Valkyrae went on to explain that video games have always been a part of her life and that she can't foresee a future where they're not — or streaming for that matter. "And there's gonna be probably, like, a really cool game that comes out in 50 years. And so I'm obviously gonna play it — and if I'm gonna play any games, I might as well stream it ... I'll be streaming when I'm 80!"

"Yeah, Granny Rae!" she continued. "I'll be the cool aunty. All my friends will have kids." After this laughing prediction, Valkyrae clarified that she still enjoys content creation. So, don't expect her exit from the medium any time soon — or ever, for that matter.
