Octopath Traveler 2 Collector's Edition: What's Included?
During the September 13, 2022 Nintendo Direct, "Octopath Traveler" fans got some great news: a sequel, simply titled "Octopath Traveler 2," is on the way. Scheduled to release on February 24, 2023, fans of the now-series can pre-order a unique "Octopath Traveler 2" Collector's Edition set. There is only one Collector's Edition of "Octopath Traveler 2" available for pre-orders, but it contains everything a fan could want from a special edition of the game.
"Octopath Traveler 2" will only be available on Nintendo Switch and on PlayStation consoles (4 and 5). The collector's edition is priced at $179.99, which seems steep when you consider that the game alone costs a third of that at $59.99. The rest of the value of the collector's edition comes from three main inclusions: an art album, a CD of extended versions of battle tracks from the game, and eight busts depicting each of the game's protagonists.
What Does Octopath Traveler 2 Collector's Edition Include?
The "Octopath Traveler 2" collector's edition is comprised of four items, eleven if you count each figurine separately. On top of all of this, of course, is a copy of the game itself. It is worth noting that though the "Octopath Traveler 2" collector's edition is a bundle, the game and the extra collector's items ship separately.
- A Collector's Goods box, which contains everything but the physical copy of the game. Depicts the game's cover art on front, and symbols of each playable character on the side.
- A physical copy of "Octopath Traveler 2," available for Nintendo Switch or PlayStation 4/5
- An "Octopath Traveler 2" Art Album, a 44-page-long hard cover book detailing "package art, world maps, and illustrations depicting eight travelers." Designed to open flat, to allow better viewing of full-page spreads.
- The "Octopath Traveler 2" Extended Battle Tracks, a CD containing 24 extended versions of the game's battle tracks, including music that will not be included on the official "Octopath Traveler 2" Soundtrack.
- Eight "Octopath Traveler 2" three-inch-tall character busts, depicting all eight of the game's protagonists (Agnea, Cassti, Hikari, Ochette, Osvald, Partitio, Temenos, and Throne).
Costing just about $180, the price is right about on-par with the price point for the included items, especially compared to some collector's editions out there – "Hogwarts Legacy", for example, offers a Collector's Edition for $80 and grants early access and in-game cosmetics, while its $300 collector's edition comes with a steelbook and displayable book and floating wand. As with many bundles like it, the "Octopath Traveler 2" collector's edition is worth buying if you truly appreciate the art, music, and stories of the series. But if you're just a casual fan, it's better to purchase the standalone game.
