Fans Really Seem To Hate The Xbox Fridge

When the Xbox Series X was first released in 2020, most of the discussion surrounding Microsoft's take on next-generation gaming surrounded the new console's power. With an 8 core, 3.8 GHz CPU and a 12 teraflop GPU, the Series X is definitely a force to be reckoned with. However, the console's blocky shape has divided consumers since its unveiling, with some comparing it to a refrigerator. And Microsoft kinda just went with it.

In response to certain quips about the console's shape, Microsoft then produced a mini-fridge that is virtually identical to the Xbox Series X console in June 2021. The announcement was met quite positively by the gaming community, with many seemingly satisfied with Microsoft's self-awareness to take the refrigerator criticism and run with it. Unfortunately, the positive remarks about the Xbox Series X-styled mini-fridge pretty much stop there as the actual final product seems to have been quite short of a home run. As a matter of fact, it seems a lot of consumers have strong feelings about the fridge.

Reviews for the Xbox Series X mini-fridge aren't good

On its page on the Target online website, the Xbox Series X mini-fridge has a 2.5 rating out of 5. On the surface, this might be interpreted as the product being average. However, when you actually dig into the reviews, it seems it's much worse than that. Out of the 955 ratings it has received to this point, 56% of all ratings for the Xbox Series X mini-fridge have been 1 star while only 36% have been 5 stars. Of the 181 recommendations made for the product, only 47% of the feedback was favorable. The reviews themselves are where things get interesting.

One review complained of the mini-fridge suddenly ceasing to work after only two days of use. Another said it was the worst mini-fridge ever created. "Whoever designed this fridge didn't measure anything," the review said. "You can't even fit mini soda cans on the top shelf. Even If you turn them sideways you can barely fit 2, maybe 3." Other complaints were made about the fridge's ability to properly cool whatever items are stored in it. But poor quality isn't the only concern about the Xbox Series X mini-fridge. According to another one-star review, the fridge at some point started smoking before catching fire and nearly burning their house down.

It's not all bad, though. On Amazon, most reviews for the mini fridge seem to be positive. However, reviews also show a trend of it not working after a certain amount of time.
