Resident Evil 4 Remake Collector's Edition: What's Included?

Leon Kennedy is back in HD and looking better than ever. First announced in June 2022, "Resident Evil 4 Remake" didn't have too much in the way of gameplay footage for fans to see — until now. Hosted by the game's producer, Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, the remake section during Capcom's October 2022 "Resident Evil" showcase livestream featured a new story trailer, an extended gameplay trailer full of small details for fans to pick apart, and more.

After re-confirming that "RE4 Remake" would be coming to both the Playstation 4 and 5 — with a free digital generation upgrade bundled into the purchase — Hirabayashi went on to reveal bonus editions of the game available for "players looking for more than the standard edition." On top of the $59.99 base game, Capcom will be offering a digital Deluxe Edition for $69.99 and a physical-only Collector's Edition for $249.99 (per PlayStation Store and GameStop).

Available across all platforms, the Deluxe Edition will feature a bundle of in-game items and cosmetics, while the much more expensive Collector's Edition comes with a collection of exclusive physical merch — and, of course, all of this includes the pre-order bonuses that come with purchases made before the game's release on March 24, 2023.

What Does Resident Evil 4 Remake Deluxe Edition include?

To begin with, preorders of the game will come with a couple of extra cosmetic options for the in-game Attache Case. All preorders — including the Standard Edition — come with the "Gold" case cover and a "Handgun Ammo" charm chain, and preorders of the Deluxe and Collector's editions also come with an extra "Classic" case cover and "Green Herb" charm chain. In addition, all preorders made through the PlayStation Store will receive a digital download of the Mini Soundtrack.

As for the Deluxe Edition, it seems the $10 upgrade primarily nets players in-game cosmetics and a few other bonuses. The Deluxe Edition will be available for all platforms and will include:

  • Extra costume sets for Leon and Ashley, which includes the Casual set and the Romantic set.
  • Extra costume and graphics filter sets for Leon, which includes the Hero set and the Villain set.
  • Deluxe weapons, which includes the Sentinel Nine handgun and the Skull Shaker shotgun.
  • An extended Treasure Map, which unlocks additional exclusive treasures not obtainable through the base game's treasure maps.
  • The Sunglasses (Sporty) accessory.
  • A Soundtrack Swap option, for those wanting to play the game with the original score from "Resident Evil 4."

What Does Resident Evil 4 Remake Collector's Edition include?

Full of exclusive physical merch, peripheral content, and all the content from the Deluxe Edition, the Collector's Edition is designed for long-time fans of the game wanting to get something extra special. This edition is available at a much higher price point of $249.99 and includes:

  • The base game and exclusive steelbook to keep it safe and looking good.
  • Extra DLC Pack Product Code, which unlocks all the digital bonuses included in the "Deluxe Edition."
  • The Digital Soundtrack.
  • A Leon S. Kennedy figure, featuring his default in-game look.
  • An Artbook.
  • A Poster featuring a drawn map of the region the game takes place in.
  • A Box featuring a ripped Raccoon City Police sticker and a stamp of the Ganados emblem.

Assuming that the box is the container the Collector's Edition is bundled in, it seems it will be 17 inches long, 12.2 inches wide, 9.9 inches high, and weigh 8 pounds and 8 ounces, according to the dimensions in the GameStop listing. Overall, with all the digital Deluxe Edition rewards bundled in — and the PlayStation Store-exlusive mini soundtrack possibly made redundant by the included digital soundtrack — it seems console gaming fans wanting the full "Resident Evil 4 Remake" package might want to go ahead with the Collector's Edition without missing out on any rewards limited to any other editions. Just as long as you don't find the price too scary.
