The Devil May Cry Game That Takes The Longest To Beat

If there's one thing that the "Devil May Cry" series promises players, it's stylish, non-stop demon-slaying action. And one of the ways in which the games manage to keep the momentum going is by offering this hack-and-slash combat in games that don't overstay their welcome. The "DMC" games may be a bit on the shorter side, but they're no less packed to the brim with huge set pieces, wacky weapons, and gnarly bosses. But which of these games gives players the longest story to go with their righteous monster blasting?

Hardcore fans of the series have noted that the first three installments can be beaten pretty quickly, especially if players already know where to go and are playing on Normal Mode. The third game is easily the longest of the original trilogy, since there's quite a bit of backtracking through the Temen-ni-gru tower, not to mention some of the biggest and baddest boss battles in the series. However, even "Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening" pales in comparison to the longest game in the series.

Devil May Cry 5 offers the most bang (bang bang) for your buck

During a Q&A session with director Hideaki Itsuno, it was estimated that most players would probably get about 15 hours out of Dante and Nero's latest adventure. However, a number of players have managed to whittle that gameplay time down to 11 hours, which makes it just slightly longer than the "DmC" reboot entry and roughly on par with the main campaign runtime of "Devil May Cry 4."

Completionists may get just a bit more out of "DMC 5" than the preceding mainline entry, as the multiple protagonists offer players opportunities to experiment with different playstyles. The "Special Edition" of "Devil May Cry 5" also adds Virgil as another playable character, prompting more playthroughs to truly enjoy everything the title has to offer. So if you're looking for the most bang for your buck, pick up "Devil May Cry 5" and Devil Trigger your way to a stylish victory.
