Mortal Kombat 1: Your MK11 Kries Were Heard By NetherRealm - Mileena Is Back

Mileena is one of the most memorable villains in the "Mortal Kombat" series. This mutated clone of Katana was created by Shang Tsung and sculpted into a ruthless assassin by Shao Khan. Her mutations left her with some gnarly shark teeth that she is not afraid to use on her foes. Mileena first debuted in "Mortal Kombat 2" and has been a staple playable character ever since. However, she was not featured on the base roster of the recent game in the series, "Mortal Kombat 11," to the displeasure of fans.

One of the reasons she likely didn't make it to the "Mortal Kombat 11" base roster was because she met a grizzly death in "Mortal Kombat X." But death or not, fans wanted to play as her in the newest entry. So, after a massive outcry, Mileena was added to "Mortal Kombat 11" as DLC. And it seems that developer NetherRealmStudios is not looking to upset fans again, as Mileena is confirmed to be a part of the base roster. But fans remain skeptical, as her "Mortal Kombat 11" iteration was not well received.

Mileena secured a spot on the base roster

With "Mortal Kombat 1," the gore-loving fighters fans know and love is back. And because "Mortal Kombat 1" will be a fresh start to the series, the developers took the opportunity to bring Mileena back from the dead. In the announcement trailer, Mileena is seen riding in a carriage across from her sister Kitana. With a dagger at the ready, it appears Mileena is about to strike down Kitana. However, before she gets the opportunity to, the sisters get distracted by what appears to be a solar eclipse.

The mysterious artifact in the sky is later revealed as an omen of Shang Tsung's invasion. And the arrival of the soul-stealing sorcerer was dangerous enough to get the "Mortal Kombat" cast to put a hold on their strifes to take on the bigger foe. Although for Mileena, this only leads to her neck getting unceremoniously broken by Shang Tsung upon defeat.

Fans are ecstatic to finally see Mileena back as a member of the base roster. However, some may be itching to get their hands on an earlier iteration of Mileena for "Mortal Kombat 1," as many felt she was a shadow of her former self in "Mortal Kombat 11." Gamers will soon discover Mileena's fate when "Mortal Kombat 1" drops in September of this year.
