This Wax Figure Of Mads Mikkelsen's Death Stranding Character Is Creepy

Are Sony and Kojima Productions going all out to promote Death Standing at the Tokyo Game Show? It sure seems that way, given that the above image is not the real Mads Mikkelsen, but is instead a wax figure of the actor that we assume had to cost a lot of money.

Reddit user Frocharocha shared an image today that looks at the wax figure from three different angles, and it's really worth blowing up that image to see just how detailed a depiction it is. If you didn't know any better, you might assume this was Mads Mikkelsen himself cosplaying his Death Stranding character, Cliff. And you could even be forgiven for believing this was a screen grab of a Death Stranding cinematic.

But this guy here is made of wax. And for some reason, that actually makes him even creepier. The black goo pouring out of his eyes? That's bad enough. If this wax figure happened to start melting in our presence, we'd be high-tailing it out of there. We don't want any otherworldly oil slicks sucking us into some other dimension, thank-you-very-much.

Speaking of otherworldly oil slicks, we still don't have a strong grasp of what Death Stranding's story is all about, who the bad guys are, and how Mikkelsen's Cliff and Norman Reedus's Sam factor into everything. This despite seeing a nearly hour-long demo of Death Stranding hosted by Hideo Kojima himself. Maybe it's all purposely hard to understand and actually immersing yourself in the game is the only way for it to click. Or maybe we'll reach the end of Death Stranding just as lost as we were when we started.

We'll find out soon enough. Death Stranding comes to PlayStation 4 on Nov. 8, 2019. Until then, this wax version of Mads Mikkelsen's Cliff will be haunting our dreams.
