Red Dead Redemption 2 PC Specs And Pre-Order Bonuses (Oh My!)

We had a round of "yeehaws" following the news that, after a long, long year of waiting, hoping, and praying to Ayauhtéotl, Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming to PC. Now there is even more to celebrate... if your rig is up for the challenge of a new and improved Red Dead Redemption 2, that is.

Rockstar is claiming that the studio developed the PC version of RDR2 to run on a wide range of machines, so you don't have to have the latest and greatest to get your cowboy on. That said, if you do have the latest and greatest hardware — a high-end PC ready to take on anything — you can look forward to improved graphics and textures, better lighting, and increased draw distances. The Wild West is a beautiful place, and enjoying the full extent of it might mean you'll want to upgrade your build in the near future.

If your machine is ready to take you on a trip to Red Dead 2's version of the Wild West, then you might want to consider pre-ordering the game. Pre-orders opened yesterday, announced alongside some seriously sweet bonus material. Rockstar is trying to entice would-be outlaws to pre-purchase the game through the newly launched Rockstar Games Launcher. Buying it there will afford you two free Rockstar games, a premium edition upgrade (or a $20 discount if you've been eyeing the Special or Ultimate Edition) and some enticing in-game content:

  • War Horse for Story Mode
  • Le Tresor des Mortes Treasure Map for Story Mode
  • Cash Bonus for Story Mode
  • 50 Gold Bars for Red Dead Online

Even if pre-ordering isn't your thing, there is a ton of content coming along with the Nov. 5 release of RDR2 on PC: new bounty hunter missions, new story mode weapons, new gang hideouts, new trinkets, new story mode horses, new treasure maps, and a new mission. Plenty to get excited for. But if you do plan to pre-order, you've got to do it by Oct. 22 through the Rockstar Games Launcher if you want all those goodies.

Regardless of your purchasing strategy, get hype, because there are happy trails ahead, partner. Yeehaw.
