Resident Evil 3 Remake Could Be Coming In 2020

Ready to reacquaint yourself with one of the coolest bosses in the Resident Evil series? Rumor has it that a remake of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis is currently in development over at Capcom. Not only that: the remake will reportedly arrive sometime in 2020.

There are currently two outlets backing this one up: Spawn Wave, a YouTube channel known for having the dirt on things like this; and Eurogamer, which reports that it, too, has heard that Resident Evil 3 Remake is being made. So often with rumors, we'll get information from one place that is re-reported by everyone else. The fact that we have two separate entities with knowledge of the remake? That's pretty significant. It definitely lends a lot more credibility to the rumor.

When you consider that Capcom itself said it might explore more remakes if the one for Resident Evil 2 did well, well... this feels like a thing that could actually be happening.

It's been a long, long time since we've seen Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. The third entry in Capcom's popular horror series released on the original PlayStation back in 1999, and until recently — when modders took it upon themselves to try and remaster the game — the prettiest version we had was the 2000 release on Dreamcast. Resident Evil 3: Nemesis is definitely a game deserving of some love, so it's nice to hear that Capcom could potentially give the game a makeover.

Now our big question is, when exactly in 2020 could Resident Evil 3 Remake arrive?

We already know that Capcom is working on another Resident Evil game called Project Resistance. And we've actually seen some work from that title. If we had to guess, Project Resistance will come first — perhaps somewhere closer to the beginning of the year — and Resident Evil 3 Remake will follow in the middle or toward the end of 2020. That isn't anything official; it's just conjecture. But based on what we know about the two games, that order seems to make the most sense.

We'll update you should we hear more about Resident Evil 3 Remake and when it might release.
