Sett: What You Should Know About The Next League Of Legends Champion

Only a few weeks have passed since Aphelios, the complex marksman who required a custom HUD, made his debut. Riot Games has already revealed the next champion slated to join the League of Legends roster.

The addition of Sett, a back-to-basics bruiser, will likely come as a relief to players who have spent hours only scratching the surface of the battle game's increasingly advanced skill kits. In contrast, Sett's abilities come with a much lower learning curve, making him an attractive new option for top laners.

When will Sett release?

Sett has already joined the League of Legends PBE (Public Beta Environment). He arrived alongside a new skin: Mecha Kingdom Sett. Though Riot has not shared when he will come to the public server, he's rumored to arrive on Jan. 14, 2020. This information comes from PBE dataminers who discovered the item "Sett's Calling Card." According to the leak, players will have the opportunity to collect Sett's Calling Cards from Jan. 14 onward by "impressing Sett." It appears Sett will debut in tandem with the upcoming Mecha Kingdoms event, which goes live on Jan. 15, 2020.

Who is Sett?

Known as "The Boss," Sett is one of the four new champions Riot teased back in October. The result of the taboo union between an Ionian vestayan and a Noxian human, his status as a "half-beast" saw him isolated from both sides of his family. His father's reputation as a pit fighter shielded him from the worst of the discrimination as a child, a protection he lost when his father suddenly disappeared.

Turning to the pits, Sett used his fists to claim status and coin, swiftly rising through the ranks thanks to his innate strength. Eventually, he seized the arena from the Noxian matchmakers who ran the fights, declaring himself the new boss. He has since built a thriving criminal enterprise by taking advantage of the Ionians' newfound blood lust.

What are Sett's abilities?

Pit Grit (Passive)

Heavy Hands: Sett has basic attacks which alternate between a Left Punch and a Right Punch, always opening with the former. Attack speed increases the speed of both of his punches. Left Punches deal a normal amount of damage, with Right Punches coming out quicker and dealing bonus damage.

Heart of the Half-Beast: Sett gains additional health regeneration for each 5 percent missing health.

Knuckle Down (Q)

Sett itches for a fight, gaining 30 percent movement speed for 1.5 seconds while moving towards enemy champions. Sett's next two basic attacks deal bonus physical damage, plus a percentage of the target's maximum health.

Haymaker (W)

Passive: Sett stores all damage taken as Grit, to a cap of 300 percent. Grit decays quickly four seconds after the damage was taken.

Active: Sett winds up a giant punch in a direction, expending all Grit to deal true damage to all enemies in the center line. Enemies not in the center line take physical damage instead. He also gains a shield.

Facebreaker (E)

Sett smashes enemies on either side of him into each other, dealing physical damage and slowing them by 50 percent for 0.5 seconds. If Sett grabbed at least one enemy on each side, all enemies are stunned for one second.

The Show Stopper (Ultimate)

Sett grabs an enemy champion, carries them forward, then slams them into the ground. All enemies near the impact take physical damage and are slowed by 99 percent for 1.5 seconds. Enemies take less damage the further they are from where Sett lands.
