5 Predictions For The GTA 6 Extended Look On Netflix

The pop culture event of the millennium is just around the corner. That may sound dramatic but yes, the release of "Grand Theft Auto 6" is going to be a big deal. As big as things get. With pre-orders for "GTA 6" live, it's just a matter of waiting a bit longer.

As evidence of just how big this is going to be, Netflix has partnered with Rockstar Games for an extended look at what is presumed to be the biggest video game of all time. "Grand Theft Auto 6: An Extended Look" premieres August 27 on the streamer at 3 p.m. E.T. Currently, details for the presentation are vague but Netflix promises to give "subscribers a chance to see more about the game that will define the next era of entertainment."

There are many "GTA 6" rumors that could change everything, but this presentation will surely clear some of those up and truly showcase what the game has in store. Rockstar wouldn't have partnered with the world's largest streaming service unless both sides felt the juice was worth the squeeze. That begs the question, what are we going to see during this extended look?

While the details of the presentation haven't been revealed, we're going to take some educated guesses about the "GTA 6" Netflix event. From honest to goodness gameplay to the future of "GTA Online," there's a lot that could be coming our way.

Finally, a look at gameplay and a deep dive into the massive GTA 6 map

The big elephant in the room right now regarding "Grand Theft Auto 6" is its gameplay. It's deeply obvious that Rockstar is finally going to show off some real gameplay during the event, giving players an idea of what they've been waiting 13 years for. Obvious though it may be, this could be the most appealing element of the whole presentation.

The story focuses on Jason and Lucia, who lead the cast of "GTA 6."When a seemingly easy score goes wrong, they find themselves in the middle of a criminal conspiracy that spans the state of Leonida, and are forced to rely on each other more than ever.

Speaking of Leonida, the gameplay demonstration is almost certainly going to dovetail into a larger look at the game's massive map. Vice City is just one part of a much larger equation this time around. Remember, the "GTA 6" physical edition doesn't even include a disk – it's all digital. One of the biggest presumed reasons for that is because of the game's sheer file size, a lot of which will have to do with the gigantic map.

This presentation will allow Rockstar to flex its muscles, showing everyone why this game took so long to make. Bigger isn't always better, but they're probably going to make bigger look way better this time around.

A look at one or more of the actual missions in the game

A huge part of the appeal of a "Grand Theft Auto" game is the choose your own adventure element. These games offer huge open worlds with limitless possibilities. One can just cruise around or beat up pedestrians for cash until their in-game bank account has an extra comma in it. But the campaign for "GTA 6" is also going to be hugely important, and that's undoubtedly going to be a highlight of the event.

More specifically, the showcase will likely lead to some of the actual missions. Without giving away too much, Rockstar will almost certainly offer viewers a look at one or more of the missions that players will have to undertake as they work through the campaign, which is expected to be downright huge.

There are some "GTA" missions that are practically impossible. Others are more fun for fun's sake. The latest game in the franchise, in light of its scope, will probably include a healthy mix of both and everything in between. What Rockstar decides to showcase, specifically, remains totally unclear. Will they lean into something more run-of-the-mill? Or are they going to showcase some missions that help set the game apart from what came before? We'll know soon enough.

Behind the scenes footage of how the game came together

It's been widely reported of the fortune Rockstar spent on "Grand Theft Auto 6." Fortunately, they're going to make that money back with ease, as the vast majority of pre-orders for "GTA 6" are for the Ultimate Edition. But players are going to want assurance that the wait was worth it and their money will be well spent. This presentation is the perfect opportunity to do that.

Again, this is pretty obvious in light of Netflix's "Extended Look" billing but we're probably going to get an extensive behind-the-scenes look at how the game came together. This will not only interest hardcore fans, but it's also going to justify the lengthy production, as well as the expense it's going to incur for players. This isn't a cheap game and there will undoubtedly be future paid DLC, etc. that will make it cost more.

Rockstar can use this opportunity to make it look like all these resources were spent on something worthy. The "GTA 6" physical edition left fans furious, with good reason. Not that any controversy is going to hurt this game's bottom line, but a thorough look at the care that was put into crafting it could go a long way in soothing irritated gamers.

This roll out has been anything but perfect, with multiple delays and controversies along the way. A peek behind the curtain can go a long way in generating excitement.

A tease of what's to come for GTA Online

It's not an exaggeration to say that "Grand Theft Auto V" changed gaming. It's one of the best-selling games of all time, in addition to its shocking longevity. One of the biggest reasons for that was the advent of "GTA Online," which truly extended the game's life, while giving players something totally new to enjoy. While the base game of "GTA 6" will undoubtedly be hugely important, it's perhaps not a stretch to say that the online component will be even more-so in the long run.

That being the case, we should expect at least a tease of what's to come for the next generation of "GTA Online" after "GTA 6" arrives. Undoubtedly, Rockstar will want to keep the bulk of the presentation focused on the game itself, rather than putting the cart before the horse. But this game's true earnings potential, as well as its value to hardcore gamers, will rely heavily on the online component.

Rockstar would do well to at least tease the future of "GTA Online," which will undoubtedly change a great deal to reflect the leap forward this new game represents. If they ignore this element entirely, it would feel like a missed opportunity. There's a fine line to walk here, but expect them to try and walk it.

The reveal of a final trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6

Last, but certainly not least, we're almost certainly going to get a final trailer for "Grand Theft Auto 6," either as a kickoff or a punctuation mark to the whole event. Be it a launch trailer, a gameplay trailer, or something in between, Rockstar is going to want to offer one last look before the game arrives.

"GTA 6" is expected to be very realistic and, along with the expectation that we're going to get some gameplay revealed, this new trailer can finally lean into that. Showcase some transitions from cinematic scenes into gameplay, how seamless that can be, and how good it's going to look. This is a chance to show everyone what all of the hype is about and hold nothing back. This can be the trailer for the game we've all been waiting for.

The game itself is set to arrive for PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X|S on November 19. "GTA 6" isn't launching on PC but that release is expected to be announced at a later date. In any event, console gamers around the world will be tuning into this event, but anyone who doesn't will see this potential trailer online afterwards as the definitive statement as to why this game is going to be a true cultural event.
