If you haven't played Evil Genius but you think it sounds appealing, you're in luck, because not only is the game highly rated, but it has an upcoming sequel. Footage of Evil Genius 2: World Domination was teased during the PC Gaming Show at E3 2019, and ever since, villains-in-training have been practicing their sinister cackles in anticipation.

Players who love video games where they can be the bad guy will likely want to know all the details about this new game. Here's everything revealed so far about Evil Genius 2: World Domination.

When will Evil Genius 2: World Domination be released?

When can you expect to get your hands on Evil Genius 2: World Domination? Will this be another delayed game to add to the list? The first Evil Genius came out in 2004, meaning its sequel is arriving 17 years later. Why so many years between games? According to Eurogamer, developer Rebellion snagged the rights to the IP back in 2006, but it took a long time before the game actually entered development.

At E3 2017, Rebellion CEO Jason Kingsley said that Evil Genius 2 was something the team "wanted to do for a long time." He then added, "I can now announce that we ... have people actually working on this project," suggesting Rebellion had spent over a decade trying to get the right people attached to the sequel. Hopefully, all that extra time cooking in the oven will result in a hit that lives up to the original.

Is there a trailer for Evil Genius 2: World Domination?

The trailer for Evil Genius 2: World Domination opens on a sprawling base where countless evil-doers are moving about like ants in a colony. A closer look reveals that this is an "Evil Lair," which in this example houses an ornate fountain, science experiments, henchmen working out, and more.

Next, a demonstration of lair-building shows how you plot your structures, followed by a crew which quickly works to bring your vision to life. The game's selection of four evil geniuses is showcased, along with a few different types of recruits. This trailer entices gamers with the potential to earn a massive wealth of gold bars through global conquests. After a tour of the example base, viewers are given a look at each layer of the supervillain base, until the entire island is complete and framed in an impressive display.

The trailer teases a fair amount of the game's content and gives viewers a preview of the fun, cartoony art style. While the trailer offers a small glimpse into the basic mechanics, there's even more to know about the gameplay.

Evil Genius 2: World Domination gameplay

Evil Genius 2: World Domination is described as a "satirical spy-fi lair-building game." The developers tease that you can either conquer the globe or (depending on your mood that day) destroy it.

You have a robust toolset to easily construct a powerful lair, with the freedom to design your base however you like. Want to forgo walls and create a wide-open space? While this strategy may be ill-advised, anything is possible.

Not all your time will be spent on your island. Eventually, you'll need to set your plans into action and begin your mission for global conquest. You have a World Stage map, which is where the actual world domination happens. The map is broken into five sections, all protected by "Forces of Justice." Naturally, it's up to you to break up those forces and unite them under a single, evil mind — but it won't be easy.

You'll have to overcome special agents tasked to foil your evil plot. Send members of your organization out to establish bases of operations in these regions, mine for gold, and grow your empire until the good guys are no match for your might.
