It's Time To Talk About The Future Games Show Ending

On March 25, 2021, GamesRadar hosted the Future Games Show: Spring Showcase, which brought plenty of exciting new game announcements and gameplay previews to fans. While the show was full of updates for highly-anticipated games like Returnal and Sifu, some viewers couldn't help but feel cheated by the lack of updates regarding Resident Evil Village and the survival horror franchise's upcoming multiplayer title, Resident Evil Re:VerseThe ending of this show may have only added to the disappointment felt by RE fans.

The Future Games Show was hosted by multiple people who have been involved in previous Resident Evil installments. The pre-show was hosted by Stephanie Panisello, who portrayed Claire Redfield in the Resident Evil 2 remake. Then, the main show was shepherded by Jeff Schine and Nicole Tompkins, known to RE fans for playing Carlos Oliveira and Jill Valentine in the Resident Evil 3 remake.

Throughout the show, the hosts had a good bit of playful banter, occasionally referencing their roles in the Resident Evil series. At one point, the three actors briefly debated who was the more powerful and intimidating final boss: Resident Evil 2's Mr. X or RE 3's Nemesis? The hosts were clearly having a good time cracking wise and setting up the night's premieres, even if some fans following the show on Twitter were less than enthusiastic about the banter.

However, the weirdest moment came at the end of the night. As the show appeared to be winding to a close, Schine told Tompkins that they needed to give viewers one more surprise. At this point, Resident Evil fans would be forgiven for thinking they were about to get an update about the horror series' future. Instead, viewers were treated to a trailer for Ember Labs' Kena: Bridge of Spirits. While the upcoming action-adventure game certainly looks impressive, some viewers found the ending of the Future Games Show to be oddly underwhelming.

YouTuber Vloggy Buddy tweeted, "I expected some RE announcement in the Future Games Show, since the hosts kept mentioning RE and that they were in it... like all the time. Dunno.. felt a bit cheap." Meanwhile, other fans expressed their disappointment in the overall show, with a few people saying they wouldn't be checking out the next Future Games Show livestream.

Despite this odd ending, the Future Games Show was overall seen as a success. Fans on Twitter are already putting some of these upcoming titles on their wishlists, while others are excitedly discussing their favorite previews from the event. In the meantime, Resident Evil fans may find some consolation in the rumors that RE 8's vampiric Lady Dimitrescu may soon be added to Fortnite, of all things.
