xQc Pulls No Punches Over Amouranth Controversy

The chaotic, brash xQc has now put in his two cents about the Amouranth hot tub controversy, telling the world exactly how he feels about Twitch's latest actions against Amouranth. Long story short: he thinks other streamers narrowly avoided a similar fate.

First, some context on what's been going on with Amouranth and her channel. Amouranth has been vocal in speaking out against Twitch's recent pushback on the "hot tub meta." The streaming platform decided to crack down on women streamers that choose to speak to their audiences from the comfort of a hot tub. These women often wear bathing suits during their streams, though they stay within Twitch's nudity guidelines — and the resulting controversy has divided fans on the platform.

On May 18, 2021, popular streamer Amouranth tweeted, "Yesterday I was informed that Twitch has Indefinitely Suspended Advertising on my channel." She explained that Twitch did not explain why this had happened. She continued: "The only thing twitch made clear is that it is unclear whether or when my account can be reinstated."

For his part, xQc thinks that streamers should use caution when dealing with Twitch's corporate rules. xQc commented on Amouranth's situation in a recent livestream, saying, "I think people should chill out for at least a couple of days until there's [official] communication." xQc explained that because the situation was a "big topic" affecting many streamers who use the hot tub meta, it "means that things are a little bit adaptive."

xQc's real take

xQc followed up his statements with his "true take" on the matter, admitting, "I'm not going to lie. This is my true take. This might have saved everybody from losing their ads. This might be a scapegoat for all of us."

In other words, xQc thinks Amouranth might have taken the punishment for all streamers, allowing others to keep their ad revenue, and likely their livelihood. xQc believes that Amouranth might have been the example that Twitch needed to make in order to crack down on the hot tub meta in a larger sense.

xQc has never been one to shy away from sharing his opinion on different issues in the media. He recently raged about "fake" cancel culture on a stream, and has let his temper get the best of him, putting him on thin ice with game moderators. Now, xQc might be facing another Twitch ban, for entirely different reasons. Whatever the reason, xQc just can't stay out of the streamer spotlight, causing controversy wherever he pops up online.

That being said, there could be some truth to his opinions on Amournanth's case. Fans will have to "be chill," as xQc suggested, until more information becomes available.
