"Far Cry 6" had plenty of ambitious goals, all of which Ubisoft Montreal had to fit within a reasonably sized game. Some of these goals included creating a "political, but not too political" story with an antagonist based on Cuban dictator Fidel Castro. In the end, "Far Cry 6" seemed to be around the same length as its predecessors, but with its own problems for critics. Fans looking to plan out their "Far Cry 6" playthrough don't have all the details on how long it will take to complete the game, but some reviewers have thankfully shared some guesses about much time players will spend saving Yara.
PowerPyx reported that "Far Cry 6" took about 17-hours to complete. However, the publication also noted playtime can vary based on factors like difficulty level, playstyle, and gaming experience. Ultimately, PowerPyx estimated a range between 15 to 30 hours for most players. Story mode should take between 20 to 25 hours for those playing at normal difficulty without trying to speed through dialogue and cutscenes.
Not many critics shared their playtimes for "Far Cry 6". However, PowerPyx's blanket estimate seemed to hit the mark for those that did. Video Game Chronicle's reviewer wrote that the game took 22 hours to complete, which lands in the middle of the estimate. On the longer side of the spectrum, IGN's Jon Ryan mentioned a playtime of over 30 hours.

Matthew Gault from Vice didn't write his playtime in his review, although he implied it in his accompanying tweet. "This isn't a review, it's a scream meant for anyone who had to sit through another 20 hours of the same old s*** with a new coat of paint," he said. It seems that he didn't particularly enjoy the game, but then again, lots of critics are saying the same thing.
Shirrako, a video game content creator, reported a similar playtime of over 20 hours. "Good game, but mostly the same mechanics as previous FC games, if you love them, you will love this," he tweeted. "The series needs a big overhaul with the next installment to attract new players in my opinion."
"Far Cry 6" launches on October 7 for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Google Stadia, and Amazon Luna. Give it a go if you want to spend roughly 20 hours or so to judge it for yourself.
