Fortnite: How To Get Darth Vader's Lightsaber

One of the things that has helped "Fortnite" consistently maintain its status as one of the most played games in the world is the constant stream of new content that Epic Games continues to add in order to keep the game from getting stale. New maps, skins, and weapons make it so that players don't get tired of the same old material and give them new reasons to come back time and time again. The crossover content definitely doesn't hurt, either. "Fortnight" regularly features characters from other IPs, often coinciding with major events for their respective franchises.

Some observant fans predicted that Darth Vader would be coming to the game when a file bearing the Dark Lord of the Sith's name appeared on a developer's computer during a keynote presentation for Unreal Engine 5. Many suggested that his addition would likely be concurrent with the new "Obi-Wan Kenobi" TV show airing on Disney +. It turns out they were right. Vader was added as a battle pass exclusive part of the v21.10 update. Now fans can not only battle the evil cybernetic space wizard, but they can even get his iconic red lightsaber. It's a lot of work to obtain, but this space sword is a worthy prize. According to a post written by The Fortnite Team on the Epic Games website, players can use it to "block incoming fire, throw it boomerang-style at enemies, and of course, swing it at those who get in your way."

Where in the world is Darth Vader?

All players need to do is find and defeat Darth Vader in order to claim his lightsaber, but as the Jedi Order can attest – that's easier said than done. The Epic Games post states that, "Darth Vader has begun his campaign for the Island, landing at a specific spot each match accompanied by Stormtroopers." This sounds simple enough, but Vader can be difficult to find since it seems that he can spawn in a number of different locations on the island and that his position is chosen at random each time. That doesn't mean players have to wander around the entire map looking for a 6'8" space samurai, though. It seems that there is a method for narrowing down his location.

YouTuber By Post has pointed out that you can see Vader's ship landing while players are still on the Battle Bus and that this indicates where he will spawn. By making a note of where the ship lands, players can figure out where this Imperial invasion will make camp and head straight there. Then all that's left to do is take him down.

Can you defeat the Lord of the Sith?

It's best not to charge in and face Vader as soon as the player drops. It's better to loot several of the chests around where he spawns first as they will contain useful items for the battle ahead. When players do choose to initiate the fight, they should keep enough distance that they can remain clear of his lightsaber, but not so much that they trigger his leaping attack. Keep in mind that he can also throw his lightsaber and use the force to pull the player into range. It seems that automatic weapons with plenty of ammunition work best to eat through his shields and health as the Chosen One will eventually drop his guard if the assault lasts long enough.

His retinue of Storm Troopers also complicates matters though. It appears that their aim is significantly better in the world of "Fortnite" than it was in that galaxy far, far away. Fighting all of them together will be difficult for any player who chooses to take them on solo. This battle is much easier if there is at least one other player to keep the Storm Troopers preoccupied, however. Once Vader is down, all that's left is to collect his lightsaber and use it to finally bring order to the galaxy.
