Custom Series S Consoles That Are Better Than The Real Thing

In the wake of PlayStation 5 getting more expensive, the Xbox Series S looks more viable than ever before. Microsoft's cost-friendly console still has more updated components than its last-gen counterparts — even if it doesn't have the larger storage, 4K resolution, or support for physical game copies like the Xbox Series X does. The Xbox Series S also makes an excellent addition for those that want a compact console that doesn't won't become an eyesore on their TV stand. That said, even if players don't like flaunting their console out in the open, the Xbox Series S has more customizability than most owners might think.

This isn't a matter of custom acrylic skins or adhesive masks but one-of-a-kind custom consoles that Xbox has given away to select lucky fans. Even if fans are happy with their plain, white Xbox, these custom consoles are akin to works of art. Here are some of the best custom Xbox Series S consoles ever created.

Custom Xbox Series S - Star Wars

May the 4th be with you. At least, it's undoubtedly with any player that got their hands on one of the "Lego Star Wars" Xbox Series S consoles. For Star Wars Day in 2022, Xbox designed 12 Xbox Series S consoles and matching controllers to celebrate Traveller Tales' recent "Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga."

Each of the 12 consoles is themed around a specific "Lego Star Wars" character like BB-8, Boba Fett, Chewbacca, Darth Maul, Darth Vader, Finn, Kylo Ren, Luke Skywalker, R2-D2, Rey, Stormtroopers, or Yoda. Every console has its own color scheme that complements the character and a picture of the miniature Lego character on the face of the console.

Understandably, these consoles would be a coveted gift for most game-loving "Star Wars" fans. So, Xbox hosted a sweepstakes for the one-of-a-kind "Star Wars" Xbox Series S consoles in honor of the sci-fi franchise's special day. The giveaway ended on May 31, yet "Star Wars" fans ensured the images of these consoles lived on.

Custom Xbox Series S - Stranger Things

Netflix series can also end up on official Xbox Series S consoles. Xbox unveiled a "Stranger Things" themed console right before "Stranger Things" Season 4: Volume 1 aired on streaming services. It makes sense, considering fans can technically stream the series on the Xbox Series S. The marketing for this went all out even with packaging, with each console presented as if it were a contaminated device recovered from the depths of the Upside Down.

One of GameStop's Facebook videos included an unboxing for the "contaminated" Xbox Series S console. It comes in a thick, protective suitcase shell with another smaller case hiding inside. The packaging looks similar to the bright, highlighter-colored case in the promotional image, too. The package's contents reveal a dark-colored console with eerie red highlights wrapped by tentacle art.

Only 30 custom "Stranger Things" Xbox Series S consoles exist. And they're sure to be coveted by the handful of fans that snagged one.

Custom Xbox Series S - Ms. Marvel

"Ms. Marvel" launched as a TV series for Disney+ on June 8, 2022. Taking note of the release, Xbox created a themed Xbox Series S console with a matching wireless controller to celebrate. The design features a purplish blue, pink, and yellow colorway, with a picture of Ms. Marvel throwing a punch at the bottom corner of the console. The Ms. Marvel title is also printed across the front, alerting fans to the console's authenticity.

The Ms. Marvel Xbox console and controller were part of a giveaway between June 2 and June 23, so a lucky winner has since been chosen. The custom console might be too bright for some tastes, but it's unique and captures the show's visual aesthetic. Also, the placement of Ms. Marvel's "S" symbol on the console's speaker and front and center on the controller stands out as an iconic design choice.
