Resident Evil 4 Remake: Wrench Location Guide

Keys and clogs and cranks, oh my — there are an endless number of key items you need to make progress through "Resident Evil 4 Remake," and not all of them are easy to find, including the "Resident Evil 4 Remake" wrench location. You'll be taking Leon on trips to and fro in the dilapidated village in search of Ashley, having to squeeze him into grody corners to retrieve a key or — even worse — an actual head as a key item to help you progress.

Thankfully, not all the tools you need to unlock areas are nearly as gruesome — most just involve an actual key or some bulky tool or another. And, of course, it wouldn't be a "Resident Evil" game without a series of key card levels to promote yourself through to access the various security doors littered across the maps. This is a simple enough process until Chapter 13 when you finally find the terminal to upgrade to level 3, only to be told that you'll need a wrench to pry it open first.

Why you need a specific hidden wrench instead of the several just lying around the environment is anyone's guess. Here's how to find the wrench to unlock the level 3 keycard reader in "Resident Evil 4 Remake."

Thankfully, players won't need to find a huge series of collectibles or solve a complicated puzzle to unlock the wrench — unlike the processes of getting the Primal Knife or getting past the Church Puzzle — as all the items gamers need are in the same room as the keycard reader. Leon will need to pick up the Biosensor Scope on the table right next to the reader and attach it to a compatible weapon, then hop back out into the incubation room to look at the four Regeneradors in the incubation chambers through the scope. One of the monsters — chosen at random per savefile — will have the wrench inside its stomach.

In order to get it out of the Regenerador, Leon will have to wake it up from its stasis and shoot out the kidney-shaped parasites inside it. Try to aim for one of the parasites from the get-go while breaking the glass to leave Leon only one or two left to aim at while the Regenerador wakes up and stumbles at him. Once all the parasites are shot, the monster will explode and drop the wrench on the floor.

An important note is to not get into a chaotic shootout trying to take the Regenerador down, as stray bullets can and will wake up the other three and leave players fighting for their lives in a tight space. Stay calm, shoot precisely, and Leon will be on his way with the wrench in no time.
