GTA 5 Star Confirms Canceled Trevor DLC Plans

Rockstar Games likes to keep its cards close to the vest, but we got a peek behind the scenes near the end of 2023 when some extensive leaks hit the company and dumped ill-gotten gains all over the internet. The leaks included looks at a number of canceled projects, including "Bully 2" and a slew of single-player DLC for "Grand Theft Auto 5." Though fans still enjoy "GTA Online" and are absolutely looking forward to "GTA 6," some of the DLC ideas still sound pretty great.

In particular, one tragically cut DLC would have followed Trevor (voiced by Steven Ogg) as he got recruited by a government organization and sent on a number of spy missions. It would have been completely ridiculous and sounds like an utter blast. With Rockstar unlikely to revisit the idea somewhere down the line, we're just left to mourn the loss of a DLC that never was. Thankfully, we don't have to mourn alone. It turns out that Ogg himself was well aware of the original DLC plans, and he wanted it to happen nearly as much as we did.

Philips, Trevor Philips

Steven Ogg has been open about how he really feels about "GTA" and the work he did with Rockstar. Though he's not a gamer himself, he's said that he deeply enjoyed making the game, and to this day he's bombarded by people who recognize him as Trevor (for better and for worse). During a recent Streamily Q&A session, Ogg talked about the "GTA 5" DLC that was part of the leaks and revealed a pretty surprising detail: he actually filmed some of it.

"We did shoot some of that stuff with 'James Bond Trevor,'" Ogg said, "He's still kind of a f***-up, but he's doing his best to pretend to be like [undercover]. And we shot some stuff and it just disappeared ... and they never followed up on it." Ogg commented on how much fun it would have been for Rockstar to make story DLC focusing on individual members of the trio from "GTA 5." Unfortunately, after he filmed some secret agent scenes for Trevor, Rockstar never asked him to come back to finish the project. Instead, we now know the developer decided to channel all of its resources into "GTA Online" and "GTA 6."

It's a bummer that we'll never get to play through Trevor's espionage misadventures, but maybe Rockstar can make it up to us by releasing some of that unused motion capture footage. Please?
