The Outer Worlds Is About To Get Bigger

There's a lot to like about Obsidian's space-faring RPG The Outer Worlds, however, some fans were disappointed by its short (but sweet) campaign. Despite the endless nature of space, The Outer Worlds felt a bit abbreviated, leaving many hoping for DLC. Well, those prayers have been answered: Obsidian Entertainment has confirmed The Outer Worlds DLC will arrive in 2020.

The Outer Worlds received The Game Awards nominations for Best Narrative, Best Performance – Ashly Burch, Best RPG, and Game of the Year. While Obsidian didn't take home any prizes, the studio apparently felt thankful for being included in the first place. In a post from social media manager Shyla, Obsidian expressed its gratitude and dropped some big news: "The reception to The Outer Worlds has been unbelievable to see, and even just being nominated means a lot. However, the journey isn't over yet as we are excited to announce that we will be expanding the story through DLC next year!"

Yes! We had a feeling an announcement like this would turn up, but it's very gratifying to know The Unreliable crew still have some adventures ahead of them. Before this news, we just had the insinuations of studio head Feargus Urquhart to go off of. "People are obviously loving Outer Worlds and we made it because we love it," Urquhart said in an interview with Eurogamer, "so now we get to keep on doing things to help support [it]."

Many interpreted Urquhart's words as a hint that The Outer Worlds' story wasn't over yet. After all, the game is primed for additional content. There are dangerous planets we've yet to visit. Surely those "untouchable" gas giants are hiding a secret or two. The recent announcement stated "details will be made available at a later date," so we can only speculate about what this 2020 DLC might be.
