Mysterious Ed Boon Tweet Has Mortal Kombat 11 Fans Talking

Hot off the heels of the release of Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate and its Best Fighting game win at this year's Game Awards, creative director Ed Boon has stoked the flames of speculation yet again.

Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate is already packed full of content, whether you're playing it on the previous generation of consoles or enjoying its next-gen advantages. A roster of dozens of "kombatants," including the recently added Rain, Rambo and fan-favorite: Mileena, is already a pretty substantial selection. However, a seemingly innocuous tweet has got people talking and the fighting game community is ready for the potential arrival of one of the series' stalwarts: Reptile.

This all started when Boon tweeted a fan-made video from YouTube. This video, which has amassed over 90,000 views, shows a 16-second roll of Reptile in the Dead Pool stage performing a Sub-Zero style slide. The fact that Boon himself tweeted this has fans thinking it might be an official stamp of approval.

From the original on, Reptile has appeared in every mainline Mortal Kombat game and even the spin-off Shaolin Monks and both Mortal Kombat movies. You can currently find Reptile in Mortal Kombat 11 as a secret character in "The Krypt" and as a "Kosmetic" alternate costume for Scorpion.

Mortal Kombat 11 is no stranger when it comes to DLC leaks, but this wouldn't be Boon's first time trolling via Twitter either. One of his most famous schemes to date was the "inclusion" of Shaggy of Scooby-Doo fame. He even went so far as to show a realistic mock-up of the character in the game. Yet, Shaggy has yet to join the roster.

There are some reasons to be excited, though. As noted on Reddit, Boon also poked the bear when it came to Mileena being added to the game, which ended up happening despite many fans believing the opposite. Plus, the inclusion of a final "Kombat Pack" could bring the fighter total up to an even 40.

While it may seem strange to include even more fighters in a game labeled "Ultimate," look no further than Super Smash Bros. Ultimate to see that anything is possible. Of course, another Kombat Pack would likely introduce an additional guest character, which has seen its fair share of ups and downs.

Fans have been asking for characters like Reptile since the base game launched, and they now have a glimmer of hope — unless Ed Boon is trolling again that is.
