This Is Why GTA Online's Deadly New NPC Looks Familiar

For a long time, gamers have been frustrated by the fact that they're getting another port of "GTA 5" instead of "GTA 6" for their next-gen consoles. But with "GTA Online" recently getting its biggest update ever, it seems as though there's more than enough fresh content to keep players busy. And if you're a fan of Easter eggs, keep your eyes peeled, because there are plenty to be found in the all new "Los Santos Tuners" update. One in particular appears to be a throwback to one of the greatest action films of the 90s.

The YouTube channel GTA Series Videos has gathered several notable Easter eggs from the new update and compiled them into a video for those who aren't into the hunt. As it turns out, one of those Easter eggs may hunt you back.

According to the video, in a mission called "Access Point," you are tasked with stealing a ramp from a film set. The set in question appears to be modeled after the hit '90s action/sci-fi film "Terminator 2: Judgment Day." The video also claims that two of the NPCs are meant to represent an actress playing "Terminator" protagonist Sarah Connor and the film's director, James Cameron. Off to the side, there's a character dressed just like Arnold Schwarzenegger as the titular Terminator, packing a pump shotgun of his own.

It doesn't take long for players to discover that the resemblance is more than skin deep.

Are GTA fans making the connection to the Terminator?

Of course, these NPCs don't sport exact likenesses of Arnold and the rest, but the Terminator surrogate definitely has his inspiration's invincibilty. When you see him rise after appearing dead from multiple gunshot wounds, you'd be right to wonder if there's a metallic endoskeleton beneath his flesh.

Many who played the "Los Santos Tuners" update probably connected the dots and wondered if the similarities were intentional, though not everyone picked up on the reference. One user commented, "No wonder it took like 500 bullets to kill the 'Terminator' guy. I thought my game was lagging," Another stated, "I was wondering why that guy was so strong." But is this representation of the killer cyborg truly accurate?

Someone else in the comments argued that the real Terminator would be completely impervious to your bullets. Regardless, when you look at this NPC's attire and weapon, his enhanced durability, and the nearby semi-trucks and motorcycles the reference is clear.

It wasn't that long ago that a fan dreamed up what Dwayne "The Rock” Johnson would look like in GTA 5, and now gamers get to see one of Arnold Schwarzenegger's most famous roles come to life in the game. Who knows? If future updates include more action stars, maybe fans will eventually be able to see The Rock show up as an NPC for real.
