Every New Weapon In Fortnite Chapter 2 - Season 8

Every "Fortnite" season weaves new storylines, skins, and (of course) weapons into the ever-changing "Fortnite"-verse. Chapter 2 – Season 8 proves that "Fortnite" is still worth playing for plenty of people, especially since players are already hotly debating the worst and best parts of the new season.

The latest season of "Fortnite" features the return of fan favorite Kevin the Cube, a beloved purple box that played a mysterious role in past "Fortnite" seasons. Unfortunately, Kevin brought dangerous mini-versions of itself that transport players into "The Sideways," a glowing, dark purple alternate reality that is filled with unfriendly alien-like invaders — and their own powerful weapons.

So what weapons will players have to defend themselves in this brave new world? Well, data miners discovered a number of these armaments and posted them in time for the latest season's kickoff on Monday, Sept. 13.

These are all the new weapons in "Fortnite" Chapter 2 – Season 8.

Introducing Sideways Weapons in Fortnite Season 8

New weapons freshen up the meta, whether they're completely new or just reintroduced favorites from past seasons. Either way, cycling through classic and cutting edge weapons helps to anchor players' interest and keeps gameplay from growing stale.

Some data miners like HYPEX posted weapons lists on the season's release day, revealing the Sideways Minigun, Sideways Rifle, Carnage Symbiote, Venom Symbiote, Boss Minigun, Slone's Burst Assault Rifle, and the Shockwave Launcher. Additionally, new items and consumables were revealed, like the healing Shadow Flopper and the Port-A-Portal, which drops a helpful portal to another spot on the overworld.

The Sideways weapons, named after the Sideways realm, encourage players to venture into the other world to either find or craft them from the Cube Monster Parts dropped by the fallen invaders. Both the Sideways Minigun and Sideways Rifle come in different rarities — from Common to Legendary — and apparently deal more damage while their barrels are hot. According to Epic Games' official Season 8 announcement, "you'll deal bonus damage by revving them to their superpowered state. In other words, have 'em close to overheating for extra effectiveness."

Data miner ShiinaBR also found the Sideways Lightblade, a melee weapon that looks like a cross between a pink lightsaber and JRPG sword. Another Sideways weapon, the Sideways Scythe, will reportedly arrive later in the season.

Mythic and Other Weapons in Fortnite Season 8

Sideways weapons aren't the only new weapons in the season, either. "Fortnite" continues its Marvel trend with the Carnage Symbiote and Venom Symbiote, two Mythic Weapons that give users superpowers based off of their respective Marvel characters. Other Mythic Weapons include Slone's Burst Assault Rifle and the Boss Minigun.

Players can typically only find Mythic Items as drops from defeating bosses or other players. For example, Doctor Slone previously appeared in Season 7 with a Mythic Pulse Rifle, which players could use if they defeated her. As shown by Everyday FN, Slone still appears in the upper right of the island with the Burst Assault Rifle instead.

The Shockwave Launcher, as its name would imply, damages enemies with shockwaves instead of bullets. Some weapons from past seasons, also known as Vaulted Weapons, are also up for grabs. For example, the iconic Harpoon Gun introduced in Chapter 2 – Season 1 will make its return.

Note that these are only the weapons found so far. "Fortnite" seasons always get more complex and over the top as they go on, so there's plenty of time for crazier things to happen.
