"Modern Warfare 2" launched with an impressive array of weapons to choose from, and more are still being added. Some can be earned through the standard process of ranking up or leveling various weapons, while others must be unlocked through the Season Pass system. A select few, however, are locked behind unique challenges that must be completed in the game. Earning these weapons is an achievement in itself, and some are also well worth having in one's arsenal. Among these is the Tempus Torrent.
The Tempus Torrent is a marksman rifle that uses the same platform as the M4, arguably the best assault rifle in the game. This particular marksman rifle does considerable damage, like other weapons of its class, but also features a much greater rate of fire. This makes it an excellent balance between marksman rifles, like the TAQ-M, and traditional assault rifles. For players looking for a combination of speed, range, and power, this will be a great option to consider. Of course, anyone wanting to carry it into battle will have to unlock it first.
For anyone eager to unlock the new marksman rifle, there are two routes to choose from.
Complete a challenge or extract it from DMZ
First, an operator can unlock the Tempus Torrent by proving their skill with marksman rifles. This requires scoring 25 double kills with these weapons. Double kills require killing two enemies in quick succession and can be achieved in both "Modern Warfare 2" or "Warzone 2.0." These do not need to be accomplished all at once, so players can earn them across many games. Anyone looking to go this way will want to play matches with many opponents and focus on larger maps that will allow them to make the best use of marksman rifles. A good build, like that for the EBR-14 will also go a long way as well.
For those that don't want to grind double kills or who prefer playing "Warzone 2.0," the Tempus Torrent can also be unlocked by playing in DMZ. An operator that successfully extracts with a given weapon will automatically unlock it. Therefore, anyone that happens to loot a Tempus Torrent and successfully get out alive will now have it in the future. Of course, this requires either having a friend who already has the rifle bringing it into a DMZ match and giving it away or being lucky and taking out another player that was carrying one. Still, with luck or a little help, this is a much faster option.
Whichever way a player chooses to go, unlocking the Tempus Torrent is well worth it. Put in the work and then start taking advantage of the range and speed of a solid marksman rifle.
