The Amazing Custom Nintendo Switch Consoles You'll Never Get To Own

The Nintendo Switch has been a highly successful console for Nintendo, selling 63 million units worldwide as of Nov. 2020. It has provided fans with entertainment ranging from Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild to Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Paper Mario: The Origami King. In traditional fandom fashion, many have taken to making custom Switch consoles themselves, referencing everything from popular memes to blockbuster movie franchises.

For example, Among Us is currently one of 2020's most popular games, attracting even House Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to stream the game to experience the mayhem. The game is so popular that it inspired Instagram user super_mario_faker to represent the game with a custom Switch, which sports an off-white color with painted-on blood spatters. This is a reference to how the game designates one player as the imposter, who is tasked with killing the other crewmates. After the imposter slaughters another player, their body remains laying on the floor, covered in a pool of blood.

Aside from this one, there are some other awesome, one of a kind custom Nintendo Switches out there.

Switching to a galaxy far, far away

Star Wars is one of the most popular movie franchises in cinematic history, and the brand has had much crossover into the gaming industry. As such, it doesn't come as much of a surprise that there would be a custom Switch honoring the sci-fi series. Instagram user technically_geek demonstrated their fandom of Star Wars by modifying the Joy-Cons of the Nintendo Switch console. The Joy-Cons themselves are pitch black, with red and white buttons on either Joy-Con and color-matched Rebel logos, which recalls the color scheme of X-Wing aircraft from the original Star Wars trilogy.

2020 saw the release of Star Wars Squadronswhich received mostly positive reviews. Considered a worthy follow-up to other Star Wars flight sims like the Star Wars Rogue Squadron games and Star Wars: TIE Fighter, Star Wars Squadrons is the second consecutive hit in the gaming segment of the Star Wars franchise, following Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which was the second best-selling game of the last year.

A shockingly delightful Pikachu-themed Switch

Nintendo's most popular mascot might be Super Mario, but Pokemon has certainly given that lovable plumber a run for his money. With numerous games, movies, and TV shows developed in its name, the series has developed a loyal fan following. Twitter user VectorinoMan showed off their love of the Pokemon franchise with a Pikachu-themed Switch, designed by Florida-based company ComicControllers.

The fan-customized Switch is fully decked in yellow, with the front of the console sporting red thumbsticks and white buttons, as well as smaller images of Pikachu and Jigglypuff. Further, the back of the console has an impressive Pikachu design that highly resembles its animated counterpart.

Both fitting and stylish, this Switch console is any Pokemon fan's dream and bears a resemblance to the Pikachu-themed Nintendo 3DS XL released in 2013. However, as much as Pokemon fans honor Pikachu, the franchise's mascot has only been a starter Pokemon in Pokemon Yellow. It is possible to get Pikachu as a starter in Pokemon Go, though the 2016 AR mobile title isn't quite considered part of the core Pokemon franchise.
