Asmongold Reveals How He'd Quit Streaming

Asmongold is one of the most popular and influential streamers on Twitch. Although many know the streamer for his controversial opinion about his favorite game, "World of Warcraft," Asmongold has tried other MMOs on stream to great success. Notably, in 2021, he started a "Final Fantasy XIV" playthrough after years of requests.

However, Asmongold hasn't always been the upbeat, energetic person viewers see today. Asmongold, on multiple occasions, has taken extended breaks from streaming, citing stress or unexpected circumstances as the reason. For example, his previous break in 2020 was due to a family tragedy, and fans everywhere reached out to show their support. On a few other occasions, Asmongold has even contemplated quitting streaming altogether.

Even during his breaks, Asmongold never stopped playing video games. Fans could often catch him on his alt account zackrawrr, where he wouldn't use a facecam and was less focused on entertaining his chat, likely making for a less stressful streaming experience.

Now Asmongold is back full-time streaming, and he intends to keep it that way. However, on a recent stream, Asmongold answered a question from chat that has fans worried for the future of his streaming career.

If Asmongold takes a break he won't come back

During a Just Chatting stream on April 19th, Asmongold was finishing up his coverage on some new information about "World of Warcraft: Dragonflight" when a viewer asked if he would take a break now that Blizzard had announced the expansion. Asmongold quickly responded, "If I have to take a break again, I will probably quit forever." But he did add an exception to his rule, saying, "unless it's like some crazy like, you know, a health thing or whatever, I'll quit."

Asmongold explained, "Obviously at that point, you know it would have happened like four or five times and it's clearly unhealthy for me." He let the chat know this is because of the stress of streaming, and if he can't handle it, he will have to find something else to do with his life.

It's worth looking back on the notable Twitch leak pertaining to streamers' salaries to better understand his perspective. In a video uploaded to his YouTube, Asmongold shared his opinions about his sizeable salary. He described streaming as a dead-end job, and discussed how he wanted to make as much money as he could for his family. So, even if Asmongold stopped streaming today, he would likely not have to worry about money for the rest of his life.
